In my country an insult is not punishable by law. On this forum the subjective insult is punishable by law. Given that we; owners, admins, mods and members all live in the same world; why is there a differing importance of insult?

Regards

Because this forum isn't a country, let alone your country.

This forum is like Thunderfall's house. If he doesn't want you insulting people, you don't insult people.

Virote Considon I believe there probably are countries which punish verbal insult. I dont disagree with Thunderfall. I covered the staff and membership structure in the OP. Besides, to ask why is to ask for an explanation. At best youve reiterated the clauses in the OP, not answered the question. Please improve your posting style thanks.

+1rep Virote.

@Janig Because we strive for a civil discussion in this forum. Insults are not needed and merely degrade the discussion.

This almost seems like a philosophical discussion suitable for OT rather than SF...

In the eyes of the law, everyone is equal. That's a good point (although not always followed or agreed to), but different places have different laws that one must obey. CFC has its own "laws" and guidelines and while everyone is equal under those guidelines, the guidelines are not the same as those in other forums or places. Just like I as an American citizen live under a certain set of laws whereas if I moved to another country, I would have to adapt to the laws that are in place there.

If you choose to post at CFC, you must follow our rules or you may go elsewhere. :)

Da rules:
Your rights to Freedom of Speech don't apply here.

I think this rounds it all out quite clearly.

Abaddon by definition an insult degrades discussion, that much is obvious I agree. Also by definition a negative multiplied by a negative creates a positive: an insult that deals with the former creates a good outcome. Therefor in society insults are completely acceptable, by law or otherwise.

Now by law on this forum insults are completely unacceptable, and to quote the forum representative Moss if I dont like it I can leave. How aggressive is that? I understand the concept of following rules, Ive got the point already that insults are not well regarded on this forum, can you guys follow what I write about negative x negative? If not why not? If so can you then understand how insults could be applied to this forum?

Regards

The J you obviously didnt pay attention in math class. negative + negative = bigger negative, but negative x negative = positive. That is one of the foundation principles of mathematics, philosophy and life.

By insulting people you're just adding negatives, not mutliplying them.

The rules of mathematics don't govern the site. The rules of Thunderfall, however, do. If you don't like the rules, you're free to start your own site with your own rules. But since you are a member of CFC, you must abide by the laws.

Joecoolyo when an insult corresponds to a preceeding insult the instigator is by definition invalidated, otherwise it wouldnt be insulting. NickyJ the rules of mathematics govern everything: I would respond in binary but its not worth it.

Poster A: You're a butt!
Poster B: No, YOU'RE a butt!

...

Is the discussion improved by having had this exchange?

Exactly. And then, you get more people who jump in like it's a barroom brawl. Then the police (mods) come in, dish out the infractions, and everybody goes home. That can all be avoided by nipping it in the bud, and ending the flames there.

I cant imagine a topic here where the butt conversation would be appropriate. I write here to provide site feedback, if you disagree with me id be interested to know why, or if this helps you understand where im coming from then yeah thats good too. Lets not forget we're talking about insults not butts

Please reply in binary, I can't understand you otherwise.

Are you asking why the forum doesn't follow the rules of your country? It doesn't follow the rules of any country. Thunderfall's site; his rules.

Rules are quite clear - you don't get to insult people here.

Moderator Action: Given that the moderators and the administrators have already spent a significant amount of time discussing this with you, and given that this rule is already so clear, I see no point in continuing this thread.
