OKay, I have a new bug and I couldn't find anything on it on the site. not that I actually waded through all the individual posts, but I checked the topic lines and didn't see anything quite like this.

First off, this is the steam version of the game, G&K, BNW and all DLC installed. v 1.0.3.18.

Anyway, I started a new game to try out Indonesia. Nothing to hard, just standard size (i think) warlord epic, with archipelago so there would be plenty of 'continents' for the UA. Everything is working out nicely, despite some early setbacks getting a religion, but i started noticing something on the trade screen. Sometimes, the trade screen would tell me that I have multiple copies of a luxury, and after the deal, I would have none.

This is NOT a case of it trading away multiple copies in one go, however. Looking at my active deals in the diplo overview, I did indeed have them traded away legitimately. This is a error in the DISPLAYED NUMBER, not the traded number. As you can imagine, this has caused some frustration over inadvertently trading away my last copy when the game says I have two.

There are two interesting things about this 'bug':

1) It only seems to happen with cloves, pepper and nutmeg, the three resources created by the indonesian UA.

2) It only happens when THE AI tries to renew a deal.

It took me a while to figure this out. Normally they don't ask for your last copy of a luxury, but if a deal ends with civ A, and you use that copy in another deal with civ B, the trade screen will display incorrectly when civ A comes asking to reinstate the deal.

Anyway, the save file is an auto save on exactly the right turn. I've reloaded and reproduced it seven or eight times, works like a charm.

1)Loading will start you at turn 483. On this turn, a bunch of deals run out, including a deal with Attila, leaving you with both of your nutmeg.
2)Immediately go to england, make a deal asking for citrus and open borders, giving pearls and nutmeg. She will accept.
3) do whatever with your units, etc. doesn't really matter. SPEND MONEY. you need to have less than 450g. Buying subs and frigates is a good way to spend large wads of cash.
4) End Turn
5) Attila will contact you for one of two reasons, depending on how much money you have. If you are broke (under ~450 gold) he will call to ask for a renewal of the Nutmeg for Gold (I realise that the 260g is low on epic. I was on autopilot, okay! stop laughing dammit.) Otherwise he will ask for a research agreement. you don't want the research agreement.
6)HERE'S THE BUG. Take the nutmeg off the table, then go to luxuries. The list should tell you that you have two copies, even though you just agreed to send one off to England.

Not a big deal, but I always use this method to check my supplies. An example from this game is that someone comes asking for nutmeg, and I go to check my list. Two nutmeg, but I have four pearls. Give them the pearls, that way I have the nutmeg if I really need it.

Anyway, that's pretty much all I've got.

Welcome to CivFanatics! Thanks for taking the time to file such a detailed report.

I confirm your explanation. I've seen this situation many times: A luxury deal with civ A ends, you trade the last remaining copy of that luxury to civ B and then civ A tries to renew the trade. If you accept, you just traded away your last copy of the luxury. I hadn't noticed that if you take the luxury off the table then the number of displayed copies is incorrect. The next time this happens to me, I'll check whether the display error applies to luxuries other than the special Indonesian ones.

Thank you for the welcome. I've been playing Civ since Civ II. I think I was maybe twelve years old when I played my first game. Been lurking here on the forums for a couple of years, lots of great advice and good explanations. That last is especially important in V, the civlopedia is crap  . It wasn't so bad in vanilla, but with G&K and especially BNW you HAVE to find an outside source of information because the in-game files don't do anything to explain the rules. The whole thing reads like it was written for people who already know how to play: useful as a reference for stats, not so good on actual mechanics.

As I said in my last post, I only noticed it because I always take things off the table to check how many I have. Obviously, you can refuse the deal and check on the resource list, but the ai won't always accept the same deal.

This IS a bug, and it's adding +1 to the number you actually have.

Just played a few more turns (on the above save), turn 486, deal for pepper runs out. Turn 487, Attila asks for a renewal, and the list says I have THREE pepper. Which is flat out impossible.
