Index Units

    It would be most helpful if all units, especially ships and planes, carried a label showing their home port or city and an index to distinguish units from the same home base.

    when said unit is highlighted, you can click on their unit type(Example: Warrior) and Civ IV will let you name it what ever you would like.

    This is helpful for deciding the fates of units before they get sent on their merry way. Archer - Defense, Warrior - Isabella Ass Kicker, USS Enterprise, etc...

    Hi Cosine:
    Yes, but it would nice if a unit was automatically tagged as, say, Galleon-4 London. I always seem to lose track of which unit is on a given mission :-(

    Since units don't have a "home city" what purpose would this serve?

    Warpstorm made my point. Home cities are basically irrelevent once you send the unit on its mission. As for the losing track of them once they are on said mission, try naming them for their role. If CIV did labeling automatically then it still wouldn't help you, unless you were using a notebook. But since you can edit the names right on your screen, why not use that feature?
