After the first match got rained out, India has just whipped Australia's cocky butt in the second match in Gwalior!!!:whipped: :sheep:
What was Gilchrist thinking ;);) He basically handed the match in a platter to us.

BTW your second string bowlers are, to quote the great Geoff Boycott, "ROOBISH":p

Yeah...just a shame about the rain against New Zealand, you could have won that match easily. But well done to get revenge for that World Cup Final (359/2...). I still think, that on neutral ground, Australia are better, but the slow spinning pitches down in India could be vital in the final.

SHOCK AND AWE:eek::eek:

New Zealand shot out for 97........ more sheep whipping :sheep::whipped:
Australia 54/1 at lunch....in 9 overs:hammer:

And BTW I am truly surprised to see a cricket fan from Norway!

Australia win by 8 wickets with 33.4 ovs to spare.

NZ captain did what no captain opts to do against Australia in such conditions unless you know them (OK, Nasser Hussain did it in the Ashes last year) - bat first - and got punished accordingly.

So the table after 1 round of 3:

India 8 points - 1 win, 1 NR.
Australia 7 points - 1 win, 1 loss.
NZ 3 points - 1 NR, 1 loss.

NZ will be the whipping boys here I think. Their batting order is way too weak, and Bond isn't here to save them with his bowling. Tuffey got hit for 51 in 6.4 ovs today...

As for Norway - do you know we're unbeaten in one-day cricket? OK, we play Croatia, Belgium and stuff, but still...Go us!

Very glad to know that cricket is not as restricted as most people make it out to be. In fact, the next time somebody takes a jibe at cricket for beign played ONLY in commowealth countries, I'll point to my fellow Norwegian civfanatic Hakon than cricket is not only played in quite a few countries, but is very seriously followed with great interest:thumbsup:

Anyway, I would'nt write off the Kiwis so easily. On a slower, spinning track, they would be a handful for the Aussies, who have'nt yet adjusted fully to the lack of bounce on these pitches.

 I think I'm about the only one following the sport here though + 1 journalist who has done it for a laugh + my cousin who is half English. Most of the times it has been in the news in Norway, it has been ridiculed. The national side won a third division tournament in Europe a couple of months ago, and everything the Norwegian news said was a tiny notice on the local teletext two weeks after the tournament...I actually didn't know about the win until four days afterwards, even though I tried to find the results every day. Such is the fate of a Norwegian cricket fan :(

The Aussies haven't adjusted yet, anyway, as it's the beginning of their season, and I think India are in with a good chance in the second game. But come a couple of games, they'll be just as adjusted as New Zealand have been after the Tests. Their batting line-up where Fleming and Vincent is their biggest stars compared with Tendulkar, Laxman, Dravid, Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh - or the Australian Hayden, Gilchrist, Ponting, Martyn and Symonds. Well, the Kiwis might win a game or two, but they should have great difficulty in going to the final.

Bloody hell, what a depressing scoreline (NZ v AUS)... im glad i didnt go to the pub last night i wouldve never heard the end of it. Sure, we didnt have Bond but we coulda put up a better fight!!!

What, didn't have Bond?
What about the Aussies? They were missing their top four bowlers (McGrath, Gillespie, Lee and Warne) and still skittled the Kiwis for under a hundred. The batting improved from the first game against India. I can't see the Kiwis making the final. The Indians are too good at home, and the Aussies (although undermanned) are still a good side.

Yes, but both their bowling and batting attacks is probably the best in the world. So even the second-string Aussie bowlers are still pretty good and could make most Test sides in the world - it's just that those four you just mentioned are excellent.

In contrast, NZ has had to trust Bond many times to get some wickets and rip through their opponents. It's rather like what would have happened if the Aussies only had McGrath or Lee available, and a bunch of domestic bowlers.

EDIT: 6th century. :)

Well, the next match in Mumbai is going to be one hell of a cracker as the Aussies will be thristing for revenge and India will be raring to have another go at them. Well Wankhede stadium is going to see some fireworks:D

Yesterday, I thought I would catch at least Australia's innings after my exam in the morning, but the game was over when I came back from lunch.;)

Håkon, do you go to cricketweb by any chance ?

Indeed I do. I'm known as Samuel_Vimes there.

Ho hum, we won convincingly, with 4 wickets going to a third string bowler. Next!

Well, after being 21-4, at least NZ finally got their balls out of their handbags and put up a fight. 256 will at least give them something to bowl to, but the key will be to get gilchrist, and perhaps ponting, martin and hayden, then symonds, bichell and harvey early, just to put a bit of pressure on the aussies.....

A decent enough recovery. 0/34 off 6 overs in reply. If they keep their heads, there should be little problem.

Well, we had to make it interesting for the quaint little crowd before putting it utterly under control.
