Come on guys! This thread needs to reach the same length as the Khmer first look one!
Or is Indonesia less interesting than Khmer in Civ6?

    Pros:

    - Another religious bonus that doesn't require founding a religion
    - A new approach to naval civs
    - Coastal improvement!
    - Another city-planning heavy civ
    - I'm digging pretty much all of their bonuses. The movement bonus to escorted units is fantastic

    Cons:

    - The model/animation quality is worse than the Khmer leader, but I like that she looks like she belongs to the region
    - Seems a bit overpowered. The naval strength here is pretty overwhelming. Even on pangaea maps, if you can find a coast, you're off to the races

    Side note:

    - Those Kampungs are insane. Cool looking, great to have as a coastal improvement and they essentially work as a water-tile farm. If they provide tourism as they tech up, then they are downright broken

Overall they look like a great design for a great civ. This SEA DLC is by far the most appealing to date. I will be picking it up this week as my second DLC for CiVI.

Do you intend on getting the other DLCs eventually?

The Kampung Improvement would do the trick, even on Pangea-map (if you start next to the ocean)

Voice over said Entertainment Complex gets +1 Amenity for non-lake Coast but the text on the leader screen said Coast or Lake. Which is it?

This looks like an interesting set of bonuses. I assume that when they say "minor adjacency bonus" from coast and lakes they mean +.5 for each tile, if it's +1 per tile they're going to be very OP. Either way it makes them very flexible. The fact that they will usually get faith from turn one means they're going to get their pick of the pantheons most of the time. Visually I love the way their UI looks, and it's going to be fun to have so many good reasons to settle the coast. The fact that they can buy naval units with faith (apparently without Theocracy?) gives them something good to do with it even if they don't bother founding. Looks like fun :)

It seems that Jong unlocks earlier than normal frigates( in the last few seconds the civ is researching square rigging but already have lots of Jongs), which can be a very good advantage, although this ship costs 300 prods instead of a normal 280.

The Civ's strength mainly depends on how early do Jongs exist.(compared to timing the UU's benefit seems to be ignorant) If Jongs unlock at Cartography or even earlier, it will be a very good UU and the Civ will be a very good(probably the best ) one at Island maps.

Yes, I did not spot that when I had a look at work. If she is naturally making faith then perhaps building them with faith may be cheaper than normal ( discounted faith?)
Early +5 frigates is scary but is it necessary? The later frigate rush is already OP. I guess it's about early rushes

Good bonuses and coastal focus. Interesting how the Khmer and Indonesia focus a lot on religious bonuses. Gitarja's animation also looks good, though her leader background is among the worst in the game (looks like someone quit the painting before it was meant to be finished).

MORE WARRIOR QUEENS YAY. :D I am actually kind of glad for variety's sake that they didn't go with Gajah Mada again, though I hope to see him in future Civ iterations as he was more iconic than Gitarja.

If you rush Square Rigging at Island map you probably finish it around 90T or even later, while Cartography can be done at ~70T. This gap is big.

But I don't think you can get lots of faith( it costs 600) that early, probably you purchase 1 at most...

Another idea is to purchase with faith and upgrade by gold, but a problem is that you still have to reach upgrade -50% policy.

One 60-strength frigate is good enough to threaten the entire map at T70, but you shall be quick for the timing.

Interesting Civ, making use of the early frigate is challanging but indeed interesting. Requires absolute different strategies.(Unlike Khmar, which just requires you to ignore its useless elephants...)

By the way 1 Faith per turn will not let you pick Goddess of Harvest, so in fact not that important (still a reasonable bonus). I like capital+2 faith per turn better than each city +1 faith per turn.

With my toddler now in bed, I have had some time to take a closer look at Indonesia, and asess its abilities. I haven't had time to see the livestream yet, and I don't know how the patch will affect things, so please correct me if I get something wrong.

Leader ability - Exalted Goddess of the Three Worlds
    • Naval units can be purchased at a discount with faith
    • Religious units pay no movement to embark or disembark
    • +1 faith to city centers adjacent to coast or lake

Good ability, which synergizes well with other abilities. The small faith bonus will help you buy naval units, including the Jong, which will be important for defensive purposes, as Indonesia will otherwise be very vulnerable to coastal raids. Probably more importantly, it will help you get a Pantheon early. God of the Sea will add 1 production to each fishing boat, which should work very well for Indonesia.
The religious unit thing is not a big deal, but it will help you spread your religion more quickly in an islands map.

    Civilization ability - Great Nusantara
    • Coast and lake tiles provide minor adjacency (2 adjacent tiles per yield) for Holy Site, Campus, Industrial Zone and Theater Square
    • Entertainment Complex get +1 amenity if adjacent to coast or lake

Another very solid ability, which will incentivize and enable you to build by the coast. Basically, it makes coast/lake work like districts for adjacency bonus purposes. Additionally, you get the bonus amenity from the Entertainment Complex, which will help you grow a little bit taller. Now, the interesting potential drawback to this, is that you will be very vulnerable to coastal raids, and Indonesia would make very tempting prey for Norway. That's where the leader ability comes in handy, though.
I like this ability a lot, it makes for some interesting strategic and placement choices, and seems well designed for making you settle on the coast.

    Unique unit - Jong
    • Replaces Frigate
    • 45 melee
    • 55 ranged
    • 6 movement
    • 2 range
    • Gives speed to units in formation
    • +5 strength when in a formation

While not as thematically awesome as frickin' elephants with frickin' balistas on their backs, this looks like a very good UU. For one thing, Frigates and Battleships are units I tend to find useful in general, both for defending and attacking cities. For another, Indonesia is going to need a strong navy, so this is especially useful for them. Finally, the unit itself looks very solid: extra mobility is great, the ability to quickly transport other units could be very handy, and the strength bonus while doing so is a nice addition.

    Unique infrastructure - Kampung
    • 1 production, 1 housing
    • 1 food per adjacent fishing boat
    • Additional 1 production at Civil Engineering
    • Additional production, housing, and tourism on tech and civic progress (details unknown)
    • Unlocks at Shipbuilding

I love this. I rarely get excited by tile improvements, and I don't know its exact development through tech and civic development, but just getting a unique tile improvement to place on water tiles gets me excited. It looks fairly powerful too. Food, production and housing yields are always useful, and if you are settling on the coast, as you will with Indonesia, there should be no shortage of good positions for Kampungs. Unlike other unique tile improments, this one goes on tiles which could otherwise not be improved, and will probably be easy to place. You might end up getting a fair bit of housing from this.
I probably like this improvement more than I should, but coastal cities and resources just appeal to me. They are generally a bit underpowered in Civ 6, but by the looks of it, not if you are Indonesia.

I really, really like this civ. I like the Khmer as well, but Indonesia excites me more. Their abilities synergize well, and their strong coastal bonuses is both thematically appropriate. and should make for interesting gameplay. I also like the look of Gitarja and the overall aesthetic. Very nice. :)

A small point: The city Faith should help Indonesia have their pick of Pantheons. Particularly, God of the Sea.
