Initialize Renderer Failed.

I am aware that there are sections for this, but I find them to be vague and can't even go through the first step. Could anyone be more specific for me? It doesn't only say Initialize Render failed. It brings up a whole list of dimensions that I have no clue how to go about fixing. I don't have any idea what to do, and I've spent a few hours trying to fix this. Is there any way I can? When I try to start the game, the following error message occurs:

Itnitialize Renderer failed. Check DirectX Installation, Latest Graphics Drivers and Graphics Settings Parameters:

Error: Creation failed: Invalid 3D device type.

What does this mean, and what are my solutions? I'm not that great with computers, and I dont't even know what the .ini file is, and I"ve heard editing it can solve things, and even if I could get it open, I would not know what to edit.

It'll help a lot to know what kind of system specs you have. They can't tell you much without them. There are instructions on the main tech page under "Graphics/Sound problems?" for an easy way of acquiring your system specs and directX logs and posting them here.
