I contend that Sims' motives may be in fact quite xenophobic, if not outright racist. He's abusing a system for international (which includes peoples from Hispanic, African, Arab, and Asian countries) students to get IDs so that they don't have an issue of trying to gain a U.S. ID for a country of which they are not a permanent resident of, thus reducing the esteem and value of our foreign visitors.

 i think you're being tongue in cheek, anyway.

Oh, it's not awful, but it's not so very amazing that it's worth breaking the law. Well, apparently some disagree.
Going clubbing with your 21 friends, or your other fake-IDed friends is certainly a worthwhile experience. No reason to wait for a law that completely sucks to begin with.

So you're basically saying the card is worthless and no reputable government or organization in its right mind should honor it? Gotcha.

The government won't, but stores will and do!

Only a few US states have state-controlled alcohol monopolies, so it probably won't work in those ones, but I know that it works Massachusetts, which is very puritanical with alcohol.

My sister, for example, was with her 22-year-old boyfriend while he bought food and beer at a store, and she had to step out of line while he purchased the food and the beer.

If it works there, it'll work most places.

Sorry to bump this, but it turns out that this is exactly what I'm looking for. For anyone who got it, what type of documents to verify your age do the ask for?

This isn't a legal ID. At least not for me. You come waving this ID at me, you better believe i'm having you show me your passport. If not, your going to have a very unhappy day not going anywhere.

I'm just trying to get into bars dude.

Well I know it's not legal in the state of IL for alcohol. That said, i've seen girls get in to bars who's sole ID was being really pretty or big boobs. Odds are no one is going to take it. But i'm sure some guy who doesn't now any better will.

You posted in this thread already.

Yeah, any normal place is going to ask for a real (ie. government) ID.

I've gotten into bars and bought alchol in D.C. using my college id which doesn't even have my DOB on it. All you need is something offical looking to hand them with confidence and its all good. I live in a college town and it has loads of foregin students. I'm pretty sure they don't have drivers lisences from here, and they don't carry around their passports. So I'm fairly certain this will work.

You posted in this thread already.

Never asked that question did I?

I don't know about D.C., but its not hard to get into bars down here in Los Angeles.

A lot of places (and I mean a lot) create fake driver's licenses for a fee, so you could try that, since you're probably going to wind up paying for that international ID anyways.

 Why? Transferring?

A waste of money. I have one on the basis I AM currently an international student.. but I already have a driving license.. an am 23 anyway. When i'd'd most places would not accept this.. they will accept my driving license however.

I applied for one of these today, combined with a YHA membership. It shouldn't be a waste of money, really, given it'll give me hostel discounts as well. Only $37 for an ID and discounts doesn't seem too bad.

Of course, your drivers license is an official government-printed ID. :goodjob:

no, over my countries legal drinking age.

if i was under my countries de facto legal drinking age i couldnt post here without parental admission.

Yeah, the discounts are the only reason for the this card, no one actually uses it for ID purposes.
