To begin playing now, hit the spoiler tag. If you want to learn the rules before jumping in (not necessary), read on. Open posting is allowed at all times.

Spoiler :
You stand in the Hall of Potentials, a place that looks very old...but still very new. The pillars here stretch up into a square opening in the ceiling, which reveals nothing but black. Torches are hung up here and there, giving light only to what is important.

Light flickers on the book in front of you, a large tome with a grey cover.

Spoiler :
The pages feel fresh-cut, the binding still strong. On the pages rest alien letters of all shapes and sizes, but that's not what you're looking at.

The right page shows a square panel illustrating a rocky island. If you look closely, you can make out the clouds moving across the sky, the sea churning, and two white towers standing amongst trees. The picture changes as the view rotates around the island.

Touch the Linking Panel and you will be Linked to the Age of Columnkeep. PM CivCube if you wish to do so.

Rules

Credit to Zack for the original Academy ruleset. Without his game, Intri would not be possible.

Overview

Welcome to Intri, the game of creation, manipulation, and intrigue. Players are thrust in the middle of a civilization’s upheaval, where they can decide its fate.

The Valornay people are descended from the original civilization of the planet Garternay. This culture grew out of the act of Writing books that lead to alternate worlds called Ages. The Garternay people expanded their civilization into an empire by creating their own interdimensional trade; with an infinite number of worlds to explore, what limits were there to economy and culture?

Garternay’s sun went nova fifty years ago. Ninety-nine percent of the population perished. The survivors hastily wrote their own Ages to escape into. One of these segments is the present-day Valornay people. They know they can’t stay forever in the Nexus, a strange black-and-white plane with no sun and no night. Furthermore, the Age is expected to collapse soon due to the many errors made in writing. It is here that the game begins.

Feel free to play at any time. No character creation is necessary until later in the game.

Days and Nights
Spoiler :
Once you have the hang of exploration, you be able to send in orders on a 24-48 hour basis. Players will send in three orders at a time each day: two orders for day events and one order for night. In addition, they will need to say which Ages they are currently in. Each day I will post a new update in the game thread that will detail what happened the day and night before. For example:

Player orders
Spoiler :

Day 1
Action 1: I will work on my Writing skill a bit in the Nexus main hall.
Action 2: I will submit the next Age for my Guild.
Night: I will keep watch tonight in my mansion on Ri'daniu, for I do not trust my security.

Day actions include training stats, doing Guild business, Writing, and holding meetings with characters.

Night actions include sleeping to regain 3 Fatigue, keeping watch for villainy (-2 Fatigue), training stats (-3 Fatigue), and sneaking around for villainous tasks (-3 Fatigue).

If you want, you can http://quicktopic.com/ to create a page to send all updates. Let me know if you do this, as you will also be able to post your Journal there.

Player Stats and Action Points

Spoiler :
Once you receive the ability to send in orders to the GM, you will be able to create a new character with the following stats:

Name: Your Valornay character's preferred nomenclature. A mixture of Roman and alien fits well within the game world.

Prestige: Your overall ranking within the world of Intri, relative to other characters. Depending on how high it is, you may enjoy greater social benefits and influence. Depending on how low it is, your personal security may be compromised.

Fatigue: This determines how well you may perform certain actions. If you're tired while Writing, for example, your finished product may suffer.

Attack: Your offensive ability in combat.

Defense: Your defensive ability in combat.

Stamina: This determines how well you can take punishment or endurance.

Specific Item Skill (defined by player): For 10 Action Points, you may create a new skill (starting level 3) for other players to use free of charge.

Stealth: This shows how well you can sneak around doing strange things at night or in secure Ages.

Writing: Your overall ability to Write will determine how well-made an Age ends up.

Action Points: You will have 25 points to spend on any stat except Action Points, Fatigue, and Prestige. Everyone will receive 10 Action Points at the beginning.

Action points are the main currency of Intri. These points can be spent to bypass or provide hints on a puzzle, craft buildings and items, or simply help a player get by in difficult situations. Action points are earned whenever a player fully explores an Age, rises high enough in Prestige, or wins income when other characters and players use his Age.

Exploration
Spoiler :
Players explore the Ages of Intri in order to use their facilities, solve puzzles, or even to get a feel for those Ages’ creators. Ages are presented in PMs through spoiler tags, as you've probably seen or will see when you play. You do not need to send in orders to explore Ages. You can explore any Age at any time. At night, you will need to specify which Age you are in.

Items or puzzles will be indicated in bold. If the player wants to gain access to further areas of the Nexus or other Ages, he will need to exchange PMs with the GM regarding puzzle answers or item interaction.

Puzzle interaction will require the person to be in the Age.

CURRENT STANDINGS

As soon as someone receives the ability to send in orders, the clock will start.

Play now! Play now! I'll try to keep up. ;)

You should probably link to it in that other thread.

:bump:

It looks like CivCube has put too much effort into this for it to die so quickly.

Thanks, Zack. Still looking for players.

Think of Intri as a nice break from Civ V. The tone of both games is actually about the same...
