What is your favorite plan of attack?

EDIT:
Note: Blitzkrieg is mostly made by mobile troops, not as many foot units.

Get military alliances with other AIs so they beat up on each other. Then show up at the blood baths and pick off remaining survivors.

Ancient era to gunpowder: Use of cavalry to pillage on a massive scale, I like to keep a lot of expendable old horsemen around for this task. Then siege battles and slow advance. Perhaps razing of cities if I am angry at the AI.

For the modern eras: Destruction of railroad and infrastructure, irrigations, etc by air prior to lightning invasion of armour and mech infantry. Yeah, I like to maintain a massive air force. Furthermore, I occasionally experiment with insertion of paratroopers and infantry by helicopter behind the front. Usually not in force, though it is something I would like to try some day, a massive D-Day style airborne invasion.

My plans usually take quite a few turns to prepare and carry out as I am rarely the aggressor.

make a drive for major cities (mostly those with resources) using massive amounts of artillery/bombers and fast units, then pick of outlying towns at will. Despite the blitz strategy, I prefer to solve wars (ie, kill the enemy) in one go.

I've also toyed with a few finer strategies: I sometimes try to cut a country in half, I use bombers, ships, and raiders to cut off all road transport into an area before launching an amphibious invasion there, and once or twice I've surrounded pockets of enemies, or launched diversionary invasions.

Whatever the plan, I usually have one axis of attack to focus my resources.

I like to make a war for a purpose. Coal + lux right now. But it's about 4 cities to take with a lot of side units attacking. I would love to be able to Blitzkrieg, but I'm normally stuck up with some wars that take a while to accomplish a goal and to cool down.

My style is classic Blitzkrieg, I make multiple points of attack to confuse the enemy and swiftly and (usually) smoothly take control. My prime era is Industrial, and i usually send one airborne assault, after battering down their airforce first, one or two amphibious assaults, and mass armor attacks through flat areas which promote mobility through the enemy territory. This has even worked when im not as advanced as the other country, it devastated them just the same (eventually).

Typically Blitzkrieg, wars of attrition in Republic cause too much WW. I will play defensively if there are MPPs floating round and I want to foment world wars.

The point of Blitzkrieg is to create chaos in the enemy in general, cut communications and movement, destroy enemy morale, and do this by using the least amount of troops possible. All this is designed to bring a country to its knees with only a (comparably) small amount of casualties.

I like to use air strikes in the modern era to take out mostly the infrastructure on strategic resources. Coal and oil and the main targets. If I can take those out, the enemy will be in dire need of modern units when I launch the invasion. I also make use of the terrain. The best way to launch a naval invasion is to attack a peninsula or something of sorts. Then use a captured worker to build an airfield so I can send more reinforcements by air. Paratroopers can be used in small actions like dropping behind enemy lines and cutting routes on mountains or delaying reinforcements. If I have to handle a very big enemy, one tactic I like to use before launching a large invasion is to make raids on coastal cities and raze them.

Usually Blitzkrieg a couple, then just try and kill everyone. Sometimes it turns into a war of Attrition, but that isn't as fun
