Attached are some screenshots how individual cities painted in the resource file will appear on the map when the cities-graphic (here rEURO) are set to transparency (magenta). In this way you can transfer pictures from your home-city or other cities to the Civ 3-map.

An other way to form individual cities is to copy a wonder from the “buildings-large” file to the resource file. A screenshot to demonstrate how sharp this wonder-city appears on the map is attached.

It´s not too difficult. I have attached a resource-city-graphic file with the city-resources you can see on the screenshot and a terrain file “marsh” that I have renamed to city-spot so you can experiment a little bit with this technic (but always first save the files you want replace !!) .

If you have some good city-pictures on your resource-file, I would be glad to see them posted here.

Its a good idea, but then the units would be even bigger then the cities then they already are. If the resource.pcx had bigger boxes it might be doable.

Hello vBraun,

thank you for your reply. I have attached two more screenshots about the cities of London and Rome. Both have units inside the city. It´s true that they are bigger in relation to the city than in normal Civ. But I think they are not anesthetic big (just like a feeling for Civ 4 :).

These resource-cities are the placeholders until the first city-unit inside the city is build or until a killed city-unit is replaced by a new city-unit
( see "Invisible Cities" Part 1). With the city-units you have the possibility to cover a bigger place for the city (and also all units inside the city).

One thing you could do is have the citys pcx have improvments around it. So that for example Rome when it gets to the next size it could have more temples or other stuff. So each city will retain it's special look but as it gets bigger it will actually get bigger.
