IOT Developmental Thread

Then consider it IOT Resource Wars 1.5: Now with Spreadsheets!

That's just the problem. It isn't you. It's the fact the game changed hands. After IOT6 changed hands to ZeletDude who updated once or twice before leaving the game to a third person, I don't think anyone has "faith" in that system anymore.

Its not just the game changing hands, or at least it wasn't in IOT VI's case. Zeletdude left as soon as he got it, and then it became an NES. Now, NESes are fine, but they don't belong in IOT.

Double A's on the other hand... I really see no reason why he can't just continue.

Because people saw IOTVI fail similar. Even though DA would be a good GM, people aren't so sure. The fact IOTR has sinked to the bottom of the page is kinda proof of concept.

So, there're four IOTs running right now.

"This game is not good because there are no posts. Therefore I will not post."

It's the same ******** repeating "I won't vote for a 3rd party because no one votes for 3rd parties" conundrum.

I suppose I should show you the map of IOTC and the only places where you can have your beginning claims:

Everyone knows that Asia was never colonized.

Especially not India. Or Australia.

IOT Colonization? Sounds wonderful! I was going to do one based on that map provided Homefront did solid enough to test my ruleset and trade routes. (Of course, I was still working on an improved map for the game)

I think resources should be involved. :p

I kind of like IoTs which predate nukes. No fuss over superweapons killing millions.

I like those kind every once in a while provided its not as simple as build armies and hitting your neighbor. IOTE is pretty good because it has ships. IOTC should have gold, silver, and cash crops!

That occurred much later than colonization in the Americas. The British did not become the dominant power in India until late in the 18th century, and areas like Punjab or Sindh were not conquered until well into the middle of the 19th century. Before the 18th century, European colonization was largely limited to coastal forts and factories, and often achieved through accommodation with local rulers, with the exception of Spanish Phillippines and some Dutch holdings in the East Indies.

How about Asia gets opened up at turn 20 or something?

I'm going to assume that IOTC is Age of Imperialism based instead of Age of Exploration.

Since it's going to 1700 (Yeah, I lowered it a bit) I decided to focus on the Atlantic, where most colonies were during this time. And I do realize India was colonized before then :p

I think resources should be involved. :p

There are. Lots of them. I just don't want to show you them until the game started, otherwise everyone would go directly to them. Of course, anyone knowing where the gold and diamonds are in real life will manage to get them anyways. :p

No, no it wasn't!

Goa was colonized. Some forts on the coast was colonized. But not India. None of the European powers were strong enough in the region to take and hold large chucks of Indian territory.

Are there tobacco, chocolate, taters, etc?

And I doubt that it will matter much for starting claims, since we're starting in Europe.

Also, everyone, please don't go for the whole "I'm Spain and deserve these places!" Those colonies don't exist yet.

There will be tobacco for sure. Chocolate and taters, I'm not sure.

As for that rule...

*Places in House Rules*

I have added potatos and silver to the map!

Actually, cotton and corn would be better considering the time period... I don't know why I said taters.

Maybe cuz they're so delicious.
