i try playin a multiplayer game with my uncle, we both have aol ..
i typed ip adress at keyword and there was a site that told me my ip adress( bhttp://www.whatismyipaddress.com) the game machine still wont connect. is it not giving me the right one?
i played a game with someone who was on yahoo.com that lives in kansas he hosted the game, we didnt have any problems.why wont it work for me and my uncle?

Be sure you re-check your IP address everytime you have to connect to your service provider. I know when I played MP games, anytime we lost our connection I would have to re-connect and recheck the new IP address.

Also be sure to be checking the IP address for whomever is hosting the game, not those who are connecting to it.

I know it changes everytime,we both check our ip adress everytime we try, it never works.i dont hink were gettin the right adress or somthn.would you try to play a game with me? email me if you dont mind and ill try to host.

You might want to try and ask around in the Multiplayer forum. They might have more experiance with this problem. Plus, someone there might be able to play a MP game with you to try it out. Sorry, I just don't have enough time to play MP games anymore.

I know i have heard of people having problems with games through AOL, so maybe the IP addressthey give you is a generic one, or is rotated somehow....?

Ah HA! I think it does. i just tried to host a game and BAM! Aol exsacted revenge. I did the find ip thing a couple of times and got different ones. I'd hate to change services cause i've had this email addie for so long and i like it. Do you think that may be the only way? I don't think I can afford two services.
thanks in advance

A technical tip, it's very easy to get you ip value. Open a dos windows, type in ipconfig and hit return. You can have several different ip, especially if you have an ethernet card, etc... Just look at the internet IP. It also gives you the gateway IP. I've always liked the console prompt :) I'm an old dinosaur.

Just to add to what has been said here, yes you can host games on aol.

Simmilar to what GhengisK said, depending on what windoze version you are using you can got to Start--> Run--> and type in either 'ipconfig' or you can type in 'winipcfg'. enter both commands without those quotes.

As you've said you are on aol, which uses dynamic IP addresses, your address will change every time you log on. However, because this is aol, your IP address will always begin with '172.'.

Try both of those dos commands. Depending on your type of Windoze, one of them will work for you. Hope that helps.
