Congress of Port-Au-Prince

The Emperor herby invites all nations that for now protect the barbaric institution of slavery to discuss a way to end it, so one day all of mankind can be FREE! It is a humiliating act, that tortures a man, in soul and body and that takes his children away from him. This is true evil, evil that we most overcome

The following nations are invited, but other may join if they please:
  1. CSA
  2. Hejaz
  3. Japan
  4. Kaapstaat
  5. Korea
  6. Mexico
  7. Mongolia
  8. Persia
  9. Poland-Lithuania
  10. Portugal
  11. Russia
  12. Sawaiki
  13. Turkey
  14. UPCA
  15. Vietnam
  16. Vijayanagar
  17. Wagadou

The proposal is that all nations sign a document that completely criminalizes and bans slavery. The document should contain the law that all men are equal and that freedom cannot be bought and sold, men are not property and everyone has the right to pursue happiness. Also it would be recommended that slaves gain reparations in the form of land or money.

Signers of these protocols will be obligated to incorporate the freedom of all men and woman into the constitution.

All that wish to sign this, please post in the thread Port-Au-Prince Yay or Nay

Mongolia has a form of slavery but not what you think. It is more like a caste system:

On the top of the Mongolian society there is the Khan, the Empress, the heir, the Dukes and the Governors.

Then there are the citizens. The upper classes of the citizens belong to two castes:

The ''Warrior Caste'': They are Warriors and live only to fight. They have to train in the Arts of War 6 hours every day.

The ''Religious Caste'': They are the Catholic Priests.

Then there are the Middle classes, who belong in the caste of the ''Trader's''.

Finaly there are the lower classes, the slaves, who work in the farms and in the factories. Those slaves cant marry men or women from other castes. However they are paid for their work.

But you are limiting their freedoms, subsistence wages, not allowing freedom of choice and freedom of movement, that is a form of slavery that must be removed from the premisses.

We are sorry, but we dont agree with you. They get paid for their work and they cant be sold. So they are free men. The slaves are very lucky. I think that no slave would want to be in the ''Warrior Caste'', to fight wars and train 6 hours the day.

Emperor Le Van Khoi answer to Hati proposal

After a long heated debate with the Emperor and his trusted advisors at the palace. The Emperor has agree with Hati that Slavery is barbaric

Ergo to this day Vietnam has abolished Slavery.

On another note The Emperor would like to seek a Trade argeement with the East Indian Republic and Federal China

The Russian czar will attend and we will possibly give our serfs some minor freedoms.

Reserving my nation in a I-might-play-later-if-I-get-time fashion.
Mainly, please don't give it away :please:
(OOC: To Nedim: I'm not even positive slavery was a part of Polynesian culture)

Eager to see other nations follow its example in ending slavery, Britian will send a represenative to give lecture at the Congress of Port-Au-Prince on the virtues of abolishing slavery and how the abolishing of slavery by the British goverment has helped Britian.
