Is Alvin Greene the new star of the democrat party?

Those 'medals' arent for anything other than service. Everyone gets them over time.

Honorable service over time. Even Admin jobs aren't the easiest to do with the freedoms you have to give up and the hardships of deployment forced on you.

I am not sure that reading a news headline qualifies as 'digging up dirt'.
We have yet to see you bring up an article of Republicans doing dirty deals :p.

Well, of course. His source is FoxNews, so any article he find will be against democrats, or so full of horrible but purely accidental mistakes (eg, (D) instead of (R)) that he could not in good conscience re-post them! ;-)

Kidding aside, that is one weird thing. I don't know what Alvin Greene is, but his story as he tells it right now just doesn't add up.

There is something horribly wrong with this, but if he won the primary fairly than I will put up with it

Well, not all of those are for 'honorable' service (although some are). Some are just for being in the military when this award was authorized.

Lets have a rundown:

Air Force Good Conduct Medal: basically states you served and didnt get caught doing anything bad during that service. Everyone gets them, unless you had punitive action taken against you during the time period indicated. They are awarded every 3 years.

National Defense Service Medal. Given to anyone that serves in the military during a period of conflict. Again, everyone that serves gets one, no matter where or how you serve.

Global War on Terrorism Medal. Relatively new, but given to anyone who serves in the military during the GWoT....no matter where, or how.

NCOPD Ribbon. Given for completing your first leaderhip school, and you get a numeral for each level completed thereafter. This means he was selected for and completed his primary leadership school. It is a requirement for promotion.

Army Service Ribbon. The gimme. This one is for completing basic and AIT training and everyone who completes that training gets one. Its the only ribbon you see those young privates on their class As after they graduate basic.

I guess the caveat is that honorable service generally means you didnt do anything bad. From my personal viewpoint, excellent service is annotated with awards for merit, in service or singular achievement.....not just for breathing the same air as everyone else on a particular date.

You'll put up with it? Do you live in SC?

Given the candidate didn't run, didn't advertise, spent NOTHING, other than his fee... Its extremely suspect.

I'm curious what various reviews of the data, etc... will find.

I don't know why, but this one strikes me as a little odd. I mean if you served in Afghanistan/Iraq that deserves a medal (and more!), but serving during a particular federal policy? Is there something similar for the war on drugs? The cold war?

No disrespect intended to american soldiers, whenever they served, but I am curious to think of what folks in the military actually think of this particular award...

I just thought it was funny how you said "I'll put up with it" as if you have some other choice or if it even affects you. ;)

No worries. :)

PS I'm in Dixon right now.

I've never heard of him until just now so I hardly think so. What do you think?

http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/06/11/1675268/who-is-alvin-greene-the-south.html

Greene, a 32-year-old unemployed military veteran who did little if any campaigning but easily beat a far better-funded primary opponent, faces a felony obscenity charge. That charge alleges Greene showed a University of South Carolina student pornography in a computer lab and suggested they go to her room.
It is now a felony to show an adult "pornography" in the state of South Carolina? And you are complaining about Greene instead of this law?

Based on the shortened reference to the mascot that commonly escapes the lips of University of South Carolina cheerleaders, it may just be a misdemeanor to cheer for the local team.

What he did was at the very least, sexual harassment. Obscenity is a local definition, but yeah, charging him with a felony is crazy.

I really don't think sexual harassment is a criminal offense in this country. I think you can sexually harass anybody you please as long as it isn't at work and your employer objects to such behavior. Then it's a fireable offense...

Really. If that is now a crime, the Columbia jail must be full of horny college students.

Fortunately for the coeds, they aren't all provincial party poopers - at least as long as you don't go to a college like Bob Jones University.

Oh, I got it alright. You just apparently don't know much about BJU, where conservatives are typically not so hypocritical and normal physical laws are suspended in space and time.
