Is anyone successfully playing the game yet?

I am

everything's working great and running well. I barely exceed the recommended specs and i can max the game out at my monitors native resolution(which is fairly low i suppose, 1440x900).

I dont know what to do, steam says the game hasant been released yet, how did you guys get it to work ?

D10, it has been released only for the US. Rest of the world has to wait till Friday. Where are you located?

I had it pre-loaded and was playing at 10:30 this morning EST. Worked fine for me.

Steam seems to be doing rolling times for the release date. I was able to play the game for about 5 minutes 2 hours ago before I had to go to work (and I bought the game from Steam). Maybe its releated to teh version you bought - I paid the extra $10, so maybe they let us do our thing earlier.

I played it for about a half an hour during my lunch. Seemed to be working fine.

Then again I'm pretty sure I'm way above the minimum requirements.

Are you having an issue with anti-aliasing not working? That's the only problem i seem to be having

edit: looking at your screen cap it doesn't appear like you have any AA going. Is it just turned off or is it not working as in my case?

I have had one video crash so far and far exceed the recommended. Just going to have to wait for a new driver to fix the video problems alot of ppl are having. Restarted my PC and had to set my ATI Catalyst back up it erased all my configurations. And kept some tray icons from loading at start. Had a few tiles shuttering but only about one every 30 tiles approx.

My current machine (not my laptop) is grossly under the system requirements and I managed to play for a bit... Next attempt I'm going to hop into strategic view and play solely from there because I turned it on and performance increased quite a bit ~ It was the shift back to real world view that crashed the game.

I meet the minimum recommendations (way over the requirements) and it's working fine for me.

I'm still waiting for that "Aha!" moment when I realize how much cooler Civ5 is than Civ4. Hasn't happened, yet.

I do, however, think the whole "Steam community" idea gets in the way of people like me who don't play MP online and just want to hit it for an hour or so when we can. I play offline, just hate having to go through Steam to play something I paid for.

Anyone figure out how to hack the config file yet to turn off the intro Blink videos?

My quadcore 6600, 8800gt 4gigram rig manages to play it at somewhere in the mid level vid settings. I'm quite please, reached 1ad and still don't see any noticable lag, though the computer turn times are getting longer as compared to civ4 with the same number of civs and about the same game time.
