I don't know that site. But you need Steam for the G2A Version as well as far as I can see. You can use and run Steam but not buy something there? If I go to the G2A it tells me that it is a preorder Steam Code.

I have heard of several people who have successfully used G2A. The problem with Civilization 6 is that it is a region-locked game. If Steam specifically does not allow Civilization 6 in Turkey for whatever reason, then it's not going to help getting a key from G2A, because Steam won't let you claim the key.

You probably wont have an issue as long as you dont buy a region locked version like a russian one. American versions of games are usually global.

You can also try greenmangaming. Pretty sure you can buy their keys from anywhere.

The problem with sites like G2A is that it aren't legit sites and so you don't know if the source of your key is a legal one.
I've heard a lot of people succeeding without issue there, but there are also stories of people that bought keys which turned out to be keys bought with a stolen credit card, for instance, which either leaves the original seller (sometimes the developer itself) without revenue or even in debt, or it can mean the keys were revoked (removing the game from the Steam library). Both have happened.
Some developers even prefer people to pirate their game rather than buying it from G2A.

So it's a risk which mostly turns out okay, but personally I'd just buy from a legit seller, like the aformentioned Greenmangaming, which have a deal going of 25% off, I believe.

I remember something along the lines of an indie developer losing lots of money because of stolen keys sold by G2A, causing some issues with the bank/taxation office or something of that sort. When the developers contacted G2A about it - G2A's legitimate response was basically:

"Yeah, we know we've sold stolen keys that have severely damaged your financial situation, but we will only help you if you partner up with us to sell your product and we keep a portion of the profits" (Lots of liberties paraphrasing here, but you get the gist of it)

So they stole from someone by direct or indirect means, kicked them in the knees by selling their product without benefits for the developer, and laughed off an indie developer's declining financial situation for which they are responsible, and sought to profit from the damage they've done. Bottom line - they are scum, and have been for a very long time. I would not trust the keys they sell, nor would I give them a single cent.

Many other sites are the same, and even the legitimate ones can be a bit dubious at times (even greenmangaming has been suspected of selling greymarket keys at some points). It's best to buy directly from a developer or from retail - but at the end of the day money is also hard to come by. It's your choice, but consider your options and priorities, as well as the developers themselves.

Promoting G2A should fall into the same category as promoting piracy.

So after reading this thread, it sparked me to read about grey market resellers. Polygon did a write up at some point, and some actual investigative journalism! Let me just say, it was highly interesting. The short version, is buying from these sites is essentially playing russian roulette with Steam keys. It might be legit or it might not. Gut feeling though is, if it's a pre-order game, there is no possible way it is legit.

I'd be more worried about giving personal and payment information to G2A when their business model involves selling keys bought with stolen credit cards.

It is to GabeN, the lord and saviour of the Glorious P.C. master race.

It's probably better to get it from GMG anyway since they have the 25% discount. That's how I pre ordered.

    I'm guessing this article?
It's indeed a very interesting article, and it's amazing how often a game key changes hands before it's actually sold.

    It is on steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/289070/?

I don't know whether you have other difficulties (like payment method) on steam, but it is available.

On greenmangaming(GMG) it has a 20% lower price, but I don't know if the game has any regional restrictions over there.

Edit: I just checked a comparison site where I could set the region to Turkey and oddly GMG doesn't show up then. But gamesplanet (-20%) and humblestore(-0%) are amongst others on the list which I have used to buy games.

I pre-ordered in Steam and thanks to this thread I now find that GMG is an official 2k retailer with 20% off and Steam activation.

Does this mean I get exactly the same product in my steam library for 20% less?

Is there any downside whatsoever to buying from GMG rather than Steam then? Less straight forward activation? Problems with future DLC? Something?

You get the same product. GMG even includes the pre-order thingy, Aztecs IIRC.

But... you get the key in the email generally one or max two days before release. Sometimes even on release. Which means you generally miss the pre-load or are late to the party, if that's available.
