Play with me.
Don't forget the False Prophets.
My guess is that Paul did not have the Trumps of the world in mind when he wrote this, even though "foolish" (and "weak") (and "base") do in fact fit for Trump. The Trumps of the world, he would likely have lumped among the powerful and noble born of the previous verse.27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
Not speaking of Gori in particular, but it has been amusing to hear non-Christians talk about how Christians should act and vote and so forth. How would one know if you are not a Christian?
This only holds true if the reverse also does. Would be pretty silly, no?Not speaking of Gori in particular, but it has been amusing to hear non-Christians talk about how Christians should act and vote and so forth. How would one know if you are not a Christian?
It is but then there is the animating power of the Holy Spirit which one cannot know until conversion. But this is not really point I was making. Moses was known to God before birth, became a murderer and yet God used Him. God chose David to be King when he was a shepherd and yet David gave up one of his generals to die so that he could take the man's wife. Sampson another example. God uses imperfect people to accomplish His ends. It appears that God has used Trump to bring about some relief against abortion. Children have been saved and more will follow. Perhaps in the end the US will totally legalize abortion, I cannot know, in which case Trump's work will stand as a testimony against our country.It is possible to study Christianity and Christian scripture and tradition without being a Christian.
And yet millions more children die of malnutrition, disease, illness and god does nothing? He has had 2000 years to fix that. How many of those "saved babies" know lives of neglect and pain and are never even saved? How do you know whom god chooses for their work?It appears that God has used Trump to bring about some relief against abortion. Children have been saved and more will follow.
ah the highly edited one, of courseI recommend reading the King James Bible.

Did that just for his self promotion like he does everything else.I was one, raised Catholic, and then married to an evangelical Christian for twenty years, and occasionally attended services with her. For the record, she doesn't think God is working through Trump any more than he's working through any particular individual and was particularly disgusted by Trump's holding up a Bible at St John's church after clearing the Lafayette Square protestors.
I very much hope you will, though my own hope is that it would be narrowly focused on this particular claim: that God used the flawed Trump to achieve a particular desired end of decreasing the number of abortions in the US. I've heard of the framing of the Trump event being espoused by Core Imposter here, but never had the opportunity to engage someone who holds this view.Moderator Action: If we continue with this train of thought that is not about Trump being indicted, I will move the conversation to a new thread about God and politics.
Would be best to just say "American protestants" in all this here. I don't reckon Orthodox Christians in Greece or Catholics in Goa or Syriac Iraqis in Sydney are terribly likely to buy into any of this Trumpy god stuff. It's purely an American prod thing. And probably only certain sects thereof.Not speaking of Gori in particular, but it has been amusing to hear non-Christians talk about how Christians should act and vote and so forth. Grew up a Southern Baptist in Texas and Oklahoma, went to church camp, numerous revivals and was baptized. My grandmother's name is on the Sunday School Annex at her church. I have cousins who are priests and nun. And any claim that Inmate PO1135809 is "chosen" by God to do anything flies in the face of what Scripture said.Not speaking of Gori in particular, but it has been amusing to hear non-Christians talk about how Christians should act and vote and so forth. Moses spent 40 years wandering the desert and yet NEVER got to see the Holy Land. After David's affair with Bathsheba his health failed, the populace began to loathe him, and his regime began a downward spiral. Jesus was sent to spread the Word and ended up nailed to a cross. Seems that being an instrument of God usually ends badly for tge, ahem, "chosen."It is but then there is the animating power of the Holy Spirit which one cannot know until conversion. Most of you will not believe this, but that God might use a man like Trump should also be a testimony to some that their sins may be forgiven. Seek God while He can be found.
Try looking up John 13:34-35 and get back to me.Ooh, are we giving favorite Bible verses? I like this one: Proverbs 31:6-7
"Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, And wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Let him drink, and forget his poverty, And remember his misery no more."
I want a t-shirt with that one!
