Depends on where you live. One American or Australian kid consumes as much as several Chinese kids or a whole bunch of Nigerian ones.

If you are raising your children to be responsible caretakers of the environment, you will not be worsening overpopulation by having them. You will be instilling the next generation with the values, abilities, knowledge, tools, etc. to improve the world once you've done your time. And that's good.

To a certain extent I agree but each child (especially in the world) adds a huge burden no matter how "green" they are. Better to do the best you can instilling good values into two (or if you're really unselfish or have crummy genes just adopt). There's no legitimate reason to have more than two biological kids in this day & age.

It's a "Tragedy of the Commons" problem. No single birth adds sufficiently to the problem to make any difference.

If the kids are living with you, they're not sucking away any sort of state or federal government money as part of the foster care apparatus? Also, more warm bodies for the draft.

Uh, the solution posited in that article was a redefinition and strengthening of individual property rights. Unless your plot was an insidious plan to discredit that solution because the article was, you know, a thought experiment devoid of proof?

I plan on only having one kid and then if the woman wants more we'll adopt as many as our income will tolerate. Shows like john and kate plus eight are not only annoying but also just glorify the image of having as many kids as you can. Man I hate Kate.
