I used to love Civilization beause of the way it simulated the rise and fall of empires and the geopolitical interaction between those empires.
Lately though the AI has begun to really annoy me. I can't stand the idea of not ever being able to make peace with anybody. As soon as a start doing better then them (which of course is the goal of the game) I turn into an international pariah. You'd think that my intelligence agents were blowing up civilian airliners or something.
Does anybody have any tips on foriegn relations? I don't mind a war once in a while but I hate it when everybody declares war on me only because i'm smarter or more powerful then they are. It doesn't make sense and doesn't really simulate the "real world" in any way shape or form. It's like the Canadian government saying "yeah the US is a super power... lets attack them this afternoon.. what do we have to lose?"
Or can I only maintain normal diplomatic relations by playing stupid and letting them beat me in all categories? I mean the UN forces them to be nice to you but it seems to take the fun out of the game.
Thanks ahead of time.
Oh yeah.. I don't break treaties, demand tribute or attack people without provocation. My reputation is usually spotless.
