I was going to post this under Support, but didnt want to put this in a forum centered on problems..lol
I want to hear from the happy ones..

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR    HERE!

Every now and then I see a person say they havent any problems with the game. Being the run of the mill big headed "built my own compter" kinda gamer, I have to ask.

1) If you are able to run without any crash to desktop issues AND
2) Can be playing aginst 10 AI players AND
3) Can play at NORMAL game speed AND
4) Play from ancient times (4000 BC) to say the modern times (2000 AD).

What are your computer specs top to bottom?

Please dont misunderstand this post, I just wanted to know
as this is the point I have reached and can now only run at 5min
intervels. Im jonesn for the fix to come out like everyone else.

LOL im sorry to hear of your problem.

Works on my system after the fix posted here for most radeon cards.
radeon 800xl
2ghz pent 4
1 gig ram

Very little slow down even when zoomed out late in the game. Although it takes about 30 sec to load the world builder the first time I try and load it but it seems to speed up subsequent times.

runs without any CTDs etc. only minor stuff like the rollover help going AWOL. rig see below.

I didn't have any problems while playing.
I played some huge maps with 12 civs and a dozend other games as well. On the first weekend my civ was running for at elast 10 hrs straight without problems

specs:
Windows XP Pro + SP2
Athlon XP 3000 @ 2200 MHz (yes, overclocked and still stable)
1 GB RAM (400MHz and dual channel, although that doesn't mean a thing for stability)
Radeon 9700 Pro
SB Audigy 2
4 GB swap file :p

No problems at all with my system.

Asus A8V Deluxe (VIA K8T800Pro chipset) motherboard
AMD Athlon64 3500+
1024MB PC3200 RAM
AOpen GeForce 6600GT
Windows XP plus Service Pack 2

My own system

2.8 GHz P4
6600 GT AGP
1 Gig 3200 RAM
Onboard Sound

(The game hangs frequently, but can sometimes go hours without problems. Runs pretty well all the way through the game on high graphics + huge maps with 10 players)

My mates main system

3.0 GHz P4
6600 GT PCX
1 Gig 3200 RAM
Audigy 2 Sound

(The game runs well, and has only ctd'd once in many hours play with high graphics + huge maps with 10 players)

My mates 2nd system

AMD 2600+ XP
FX 5700 LE
1/2 Gig 2700 RAM
Onboard Sound

(The game runs horribly (don't even consider anything larger than a standard map) but has never crashed yet...probably because I give up due to the horrible sluggishness which creeps in.)

Intresting... I was thinking my OCZ memory was not up to snuff...Oh well.
Probably just a crapy video card issue that will be addressed. Does anyone know if the Radeon fix hurts if your not running a radeon?
I wouldnt think so as it was simply an unpak of an existing pak file.
I do see an awful lot of XP in the replies.. lol.. im a 2000 Pro diehard.
Thanks for your guys input. :goodjob:

No crashes for me.

no crashes for me

my specs are

fx 55 64 bit AMD
2gb pc3200
6800 ultra SLI

speed normal - huge map - max civilization leaders

not for me either.

specs: AMD opteron144@ 2.8mhz (alias fx57), 2gb pc4000, 7800gt

Speed epic-gigantic map-18 civs

no problems, never crashed and smooth play with 4x AA and 1680X1050 resolution. 25-30 fps when zoomed out and 60fps when zoomed in.

amd 3000+, 6800GT, 1 gig memory.

NO problems : absolute ZERO. Not one single crash or graphical oddity.

1. Have been playing for 6 days
2. Only on HUGE maps
3. With more or less 10 A.I.
4. 1024 x 768 resolution
5. Best quality of visual settings (but no AA)
6. No MP games : only single

2.8 GHz PIV
1.0 GB DDR-2 RAM
128 MB GeForce FX 5200 (with 81.85 drivers)
1.5 GB VM (Win managed)
Win XP Home SP2

I take the following precautions:

Daily defrag of C: HDD (where game is located)
Daily scans of AV, AdAware, SpyBot S&D, PestPatrol, Spyware Doctor
Daily clean-up of registry with Registry Mechanic & RegFix
Close all non-essential programs during game (especially the AV)
Disabled auto-save (even though I have NO problems saving & loading fast)
No alt-tab to minimize the game during play

Of course, with a two-year old videocard which was never great to start with (the budget-price GF 5200), the framerate can become slow, but with patience then, the game is quite playable.

I really do not understand why I was so "lucky", when I read that gamers who are running much more recent & powerful systems (with better GF cards using the same drivers) are encountering all sorts of grotesque visual glitches and persistent performance problems.

No problems here as of yet:

Pentium D 2.8ghz
nVidia GeForce 6800 256 PCI-E
1Gb RAM
XP Home SP2
TrendMicro PC-Cillin running in background
Resolution 1680 x 1050

Here are my detailed specs. Absolutely zero crashes...

Never crashed on me at all, and my system is pretty mediocre. Never tried 10 AI opponents, though - only whatever the Standard size default is. And it gets a little slow toward the modern age, but not enough to bother me.

2500 Barton
512 MB of not-fancy RAM
FX5700 Ultra
SBLive
XP SP2

My Resources :
Win XP SP2
512MB DDR PC3200(Bought another one today, haven't tried it yet).
Athlon 3000+
WinFast GF 6600 GT PCI-E

Works pretty well even with 512MB DDR, only some lags have experienced, but not much, no craches yet.

Apart from the brand of the graphics card (Gigabyte rather than AOpen), my specs are just the same and likewise nothing has crashed. A few of the world movies had shown a little lag jitter, and when I zoom in and out of a world there is occasionally a bit of a pause, but other than that it has been stable as a rock.
