I just heard this from my Dad. He says he heard this online, but I've heard Windows XP game would run on Windows 7.

My God, is this rumor true?

I have windows 7 . There was an issue with the BUG mod and windows 7. They are working on it, last I looked.

I just won a game of Legends of Revolution. Huge/Marathon 1600x900 about 20-24 civs, no problem ( after Phungus420's fix).

It is not true. Windows 7 runs Civ and BTS beautifully. On 32 bit, 64 bit, natively, and if you're really paranoid, XP mode.

There is currently a problem with BAT 2.1 and the Varietas Delectat graphics, but it is NOT due to BUG, BAT, or Windows 7. It's apparently an error in one of the graphics files added into BAT, and the problem happens on Vista, too. BAT 2.0 works like a charm.

Anybody who tells you that Windows 7 can't run this and that probably owns Apple stock, as most of it is simply not true. Some older Windows programs won't run, yes, for reasons specific to those apps, but most of them will run in XP mode. I haven't found anything yet that will not run.

However, note that you can't usually run a 16 bit app in a 64 bit OS. Sorry, but it's the 21st century. :p

I am running it on Windows 7 and it works fine. I had an initial issue involving not having a certain older Direct X file, but after searching the forums here I fixed it in 2 mins.

Now if I could just not stink so badly.......

My hope is that several things which do not work IN Vista will work in Windows7. But I'm not changing yet, having noted the existence of the "black screen of death" phenomenon.

Phew. Thanks for telling me that it works. I was just afraid, even though it was just a silly rumor. The reason I was afraid, though, was because my friend has several games that are supposed to be compatible with Windows Vista yet are unable to run. Didn't Microsoft promise that XP games would be compatible with Vista?
