We all know what today is. It's 9/11. A day where we remember with somber tones the events of that day, while hoping to recapture the sense of, "we're all in this together" that was ruined by the overpoliticalization of the tragedy.

Well, apparently the campus pro-lifers don't know what today is.

They're setting up with huge pictures of abortions and comparing it to 9/11.

And, of course, this draws out the pro-choice people who chant things such as "hey, hey, ho, ho, right to live has got to go" and make me so proud i'm not involved in the debate.

Anyways, this issue will split the campus in two. Why is it that they want this on 9/11? Is 9/11 just a tool for exploitation now? Are all those pictures just tools for exploitation?

I'm going to search for a megaphone today and hopefully sit in the middle and just yell at both, haha.

Definitely exploitation on both sides but 9/11 is exploited by many, many people.

Some people are just so hopelessly fixated on one issue that they can't comprehend that there are appropriate times and places. They believe their issue is the most important and should be brought up in every other sentence that comes out their mouths.

well, to be fair to the pro-choicers...they did only set up when the pro-lifes did too.

and they've been saying it's innappropriate to have pictures of "genocide" up on campus on 9/11

But still, they are coming out to voice their own pro-choice POV on the 9/11. They'd look a lot better if they just ignored the pro-lifers. Its not like this is the first time pro-lifers have used genocide pictures before. So shame on them both IMO.

true, it's why i hate both sides on the debate.

Well scientifically speaking, you're not alive until you're born so abortion is technically not murder and should stop pro-lifers from using this comparison or any other comparison where people's lives are taken.

Oh, please dear God, do not turn this thread into an abortion pissing contest.

Well they can go on about it as much as they want but there's a difference between 9/11 and abortion. That's my point. So these people should've been told that.

Why are we talking about ninth november (9/11)? I thought it was eleventh september (11/9).

You remember the London bombs? They went off on 7/7. I often wonder what we would have called it had the bombs gone off on the sixth, or the eighth. Sadly, we probably would have called it 7/6 or 7/8.

On-topic: that's even sadder than American date systems. Where's that 'Flame Warrior' thread? Those guys seem like the epitome of 'Issues'.

I could not honestly explain their motivation for such things. I can only say that the result is abhorent, to me, and that if I were associated, in any way, with that particular pro-life group, that I would abandon it now.

I understand why people would find it and irritating time to protest. But I also understand why they feel the way that they do.

I certainly wouldn't join in a protest like that one a day like today, but they should have the right to do so, even if it is annoying.

"hey, hey, ho, ho, right to life has got to go"
Seriously? There are Pro-Choicers yelling that?

That's got to be the dumbest slogan ever. I mean seriously, it makes it sound like they don't believe in any right to life, which just plays into the hands of the Pro-Life protesters. Well, whatever - I'm Pro-Life anyway, so if the other side wants to be dumb, who am I to correct them? ;)
