I'm playing as Egypt in a standard continents map on King. I'm going for a cultural victory and I have only two cities so far. Khan and Montezuma have each declared war on me about 6-7 times and I'm only a third of the way through the game. They always go for the capital which is pretty well fortified and it's also 4-5 tiles wide in each direction, so it takes enemies a couple turns of being in my territory until they have a shot at someone. But the funny thing is that their troops will just mill around in the first couple hexes of my border. It's like they decide there's no good way to go about attacking, so they'll give my whatever gold they have to negotiate peace. Then, as soon as the peace treaty expires, they do it again. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Edit: Link removed. Sorry about that, linked the wrong thread and can't find the correct one I wanted now. :(

What does multi player have to do with an AI question? Just curious.

I'm pretty confused too. The link does nothing to answer the Op's question.

Anyway, welcome to the forums jgallale613. :)

Yes, the AI is pretty brutal in Civilization 5. That isn't a big secret.

Perhaps when the Software Developer's Kit gets released, some modders can work on the AI. I am not sure if they will ever release the SDK though.

All signs point to no.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

I've started to pay much more attention to how my troops are positioned before inevitable wars are fought, and it looks like the AI doesn't know what to do if I do that. Pretty tough, right?

I used to lose a lot if not all of my troops every time I fought a defensive war playing on King. For the first time I was able to upgrade a warrior all the way to mechanized infantry (I think he had every possible promotion except the Drill II and Drill III).
