I wanted to make a mod that either adds a new great person class, great Apostle (I have already attempted this, but my changes are never added to the database for some reason). Or alternatively, have policy cards that convert generated great prophet points into points for other great person types. I don't want to spend ages struggling just to find out it is impossible.

Check out with Rule with Faith. After you have recruited a Prophet, or all Prophets have been recruited, your GPP convert to Great Theologian Points which are religiously flavoured Great People. There are a number of other mods that add new to types of Great People too.
