As in the title, am I the only one that noticed this?
I remember during the previews the devs told us that many people that played Deity in previous game could not fight against the AI in Civ VII, but despite the fact that now the AI has incredible fighting bonus (more than Civ VI) it's seems way easier to destroy than in previous games (at least Civ V/ VI).
I think the main reason are 2:
1) Ages --> the fact that Ages reduce the "snowball effect" definitely reduces the starting power of the AI. In Civ VI there were Civ that started so well and could not be stopped (for example because in another continent) that later in the following ages were definitely too strong for anything. Their starting bonus gave them an exponential new bonus every turn, that made them soon unreachable. Now they can perform optimally in antiquity/ exploration, but then with ages transition they'll always lose the momentum (I think ages are a really good mechanic, but this makes the games easier vs deity
2) Focus on victories --> I suspect the AI can't understand how to focus on a victory path. I'm pretty sure they do not rush any of the 4 victories, they simply play "trying to achieve more things than possible" (which can be ok in Antiquity/ Exploration, while instead the optimal solution in Modern would be to rush one of 4 victories)
I think the solution for this would definitely be to improve the AI, expecially on focusing on victory paths, and not changing any mechanics in the game, but I'd like to see if any other deity players noticed this.
