I thought mine was but after going to this site I have realized that it may not be as secure as it needs to be. Follow this link but beware, I don't know if these people running this site aren't doing something with the information they gain from your system:
http://hacker.ag/v1/?id=hag-10191

Can't read german? Copy the link above and use Bable Fish:
http://babelfish.altavista.com/
Translate from German to English or French.

So, can they see this information or is it just them running a harmless function of windows to open another browser inside of a browser? I was worried at first but this I started to think about the way Windows Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer work. What do you think?

And you seriously think I will visit that site after such an introduction? ;)

I won't visit either...

Why didn't you make the links anyway? It is just bolded...

Who do you expect to visit this site after that. Doesn't seem that nice... with a name called hacker it sure the hell isn't...

Accident, I fixed them.

Well, I am just giving a warning. :D Maybe I need to put another poll option:
I am too afraid to visit that site!
;)

What about "I care enough about my internet security not to take such obvious and unneccesary chances" :cooool:

What about "Install a decent firewall and go to the friggin site".
Besides, they get a false IP if you use the translator ;)

ANYONE can know your IP with ONE line of JAVA code. Whats the big deal?

You want a decent free firewall, that is not heavy on the comp, and not annoying like zone alarm, get tpf.
www.tinysoftware.com

I bought it cos I favour it... but if you are a home user you can use it for free.

If you have an updated anti virus and a good firewall, you really dont have anything to worry about visiting any site other than your parents browsing history :)

If you are really chicken, you can always get multiproxy to hide your IP address from pickers (sex sites mostly). www.multiproxy.org

Geez, why are people so afraid of the internet? It wont bite if you play it wisely.

The IP address is not what I was talking about, I am talking about my system being shown. Look at the attached pic.

Hmm, are you sure it helps against leaks in the browser?
You have to free a port for the browser after all...

EDIT: I visited the site after having seen PaleHorse's picture. It worked for me as well but lazy as I am I don't know enough about Java etc. to know how that is done.
But when I tried to right-click or left-click the picture my beloved browser informed me that the security settings won't allow that.
Showing the IP is really no problem as IceBlaze said. Communication with websites needs IPs...

They couldnt see my drive ... it showed page cannot be displayed.
And firewalls are against hacking, leaks in the browser are fixed by patches and by being careful. And the port you free to the browser is port 80, I think that onyl through javacode it can manipulate yoyur registry, and that was fixed a long time ago.

btw, if you install something like moosoft.com it detects when someone messes with your registry, an application being replaced, or a trojan horse installed, and things like that. Malicious JS scripts should be protected or disabled by anti-viruses, using ports other than 80 should be protected by the firewall, and the port is only free for the browser. Securing your browser can be done by d/ling the latest patches.
I browse many different sites.. been into 'hack' sites, into 'automatic virus on html' pages and such... never did a THING to me.

Mozilla for sites I dont trust, IE for sites I trust.

<iframe src="file:///C|/" height=130 width=580 marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 scrolling=no frameborder=0 vspace=2></iframe>

Very very complicated ;)

lol. Its a joke, its not even a security vulnurability.

Mozilla does not show the drive because iframes do not work in mozilla, I think

One thing I've learned from all those hacker sites: if you're running windows, you are never secure. That's not to say Linux or Unix OSs are totally secure, but they are remarkably harder to break into compared with the soft and buttery Windows.

Thats complete bull**** bluemonday. :D
too tired to get into this arguement again

its not correct. I might explain why later

I'm not joking, IceBlaZe. Only the best of hackers can break thorugh a decently planned Unix/Linux system. But if Windows is the OS, even half-assed hackers can break through. They have scripts out there that can bust through even the best planned Windows system in a matter of seconds. Of the three major OSs Windows is the easiest to break.

Bwahahahaha, total security! My computer is behind a beastly firewall; it showed the wrong IP address, and couldn't show whats in my computer. :D
