Joul Ironhand
Ya rly!
Morning all - after my friend bought Civ3 Complete I decided to give Civ3 another go, then we're planning an all-day and all-night game of Civ3 over the LAN
But, my excitment was cut short when I had issues launching Civ3, which were very strange indeed. I've installed Civ3 Vanilla, then Conquests off a CD, but every time I lauch the screen goes black, and then crashes back to desktop with no error message given.
I *do* have two monitors, and my desktop is set to stretch across both monitors. Does this mean I have to switch this feature off before trying C3C again? I also read on the forum about the resolution of the game being different from the resolution on the desktop. Is it worth reducing the desktop resolution to fit in with one of the usable ones that C3C needs? I've done a bit of searching on the forum and found a list so i'll try that when I get back home from work.
Currently using an 8800Ultra 3D card, 2Gigs of Ram, 3GhZ ish processor so i've got more than enough to run the game. Is it worth updating nVidia drivers anyway?
Thanks for any help you can give
*edit*
In my stupidity I may have downloaded the incorrect patch for my version of C3C (Having seen this as an issue on the forum), so i'll download the proper patch and then try again tonight. Will get back to you later )
*edit 2*
Thinking about it, I might just buy Civ 3 Complete edition this weekend to save all the horrors of patching with the wrong patch version
