It just wont work

I have just had a new PC built, its pretty quick as its got 1meg of ram and a fast P4 chip, good graphics and sound but will not work at all.

I have tried putting the latest patch on to update it but it continually falls over at Innit XML on the boot up page.

I have tried ringing 2K Tech Support and tried everything that they suggested and stilll no Civ

Do I need to load the original patch first

First of all im assuming you mean 1 gig of ram. Tell us exactly what type of processor you have EX. hyperthreding and what speed. also what kind of graphics card do you have. This game is very demanding on lower end graphic cards and it must suppor direct x 9. Post a dxdiag so we can better help diagnose the problem. If yea dont no how to do that just click start go to run, type in dxdiag go to the tab on the top that says DirectX Files Then click save all information on the bottom and save it to your desktop. After that pot it as an attachment here. Sry if this is confusing.

I have it on good authority that the new machine is more than capeable of handling the game, which makes it more frustrating. I have just uninstalled it and done a fresh install with both patches and its still failling

Here goes, find attached my dxdia.

The symptoms are always the same. The game never gets further than the Innit XML (uncached) on the initial boot up. The error message is always the same as well.
