It takes too long to get to my turn; late game.

The later it gets in the game or perhaps just after I discover more of the map; it takes forever to get to my turn. It feels like I'm waiting forever to actually do something. For instance the last game I played Persia went to war with virtually every city state. It was apparently really important that I see a war I was taking no part in, because every turn the camera would zoom passed the whole ocean just so I could watch.

Is there anyway to stop this? I guess I could just turn on quick combat, but I like watching my own units animation.
