Slavery was legal for 209 years in the USA. Nowhere in the American continent were blacks enslaved for 400 years.

I never said it made anything better. Fact is in the US there was no slavery for 400 years, more like half of that.

The Constitution implys that America didn't start in 1776, 1783 or 1787 (pick your date!) else no one would have been eligable to become President until 1811/1817/1821

If you owned slaves before the war, you still owned them after the war. Your deeds, titles, whathaveyou carried over.
