So it looks like 4 of Italy's biggest teams are going to collapse, Juve going to the equivalent of 3rd division!

Where are all the stars going to go? Because major upheval means the big players wil have to move if they want to keep their wages.

I read the players might receive an 'amnesty' should they win the Cup.

Whether this is true, and what this would mean for the clubs, I don't know.

It could happen but if Italy win the world cup would they really want to put the country on a downer by getting rid of there better teams.

May as well wait until tomorrow and see what the judgements are.

Juventus will probably go down and they had 8 players I think in this final, in both teams. As for the rest, I'm not sure they'll be punished that way. I'm betting only Juventus goes down...

I'm betting on a bail out too.
They wouldn't want to ruin their multi-billion dollars football league.

Edit: but Juva will go down.

I would agree that its a distinct possibility that they will just punish Juventus specifically through relegation. The others could just have points docked and fines.

Its bargain time. Get the chequebook out.

Vieira has said he'd like to go on loan to Ajax... of course this is only the case of Juve only goes to the Serie B. If they go to the Serie C he will probably be sold, and Ajax doesn't have the money to afford him I think. And of course there should be a lot of other teams interested in loaning him, like Real Madrid.. so in the end, despite Vieira's own words, I do not think he will come to Ajax.

Two words: MLS Exile. Make them play in the States against small crowds for a season. That'll teach them.

Ouch. That would be worse than Serie C.

Agree. There is too much at stake here. They won the World Cup, Why should they play in third division?? After all, it's not the players fault, and one of the best leagues in the world would suffer a lot from such punishment.
They would destroy Italian football if they do it.

The players wouldn't go there, just the clubs. And that would be perfectly justified. Would finally give a chance to those they screwed over for years.

Actually I'd like to hear what the Italians here think about it, specifically those who aren't fans of any of the four clubs in question.

Has anyone heard if they have released the verdict? I've been hearing for days that they would have a verdict by July 10th, to leave time for appeals before the July 27th deadline to submit teams for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup. HOwever, I have not been able to find anything about it yet.

I am quite anxious to hear the results. If there is any justice in the World, Juve will be eeking it out in Serie C next season with a hefty point deduction. I'd also love to see Lazio, Milan, and Fiorentina demoted as well. As with the four of them gone, it would leave the open for my beloved Reggina to claim its first scudetto :mischief: ... well... maybe not.... But it would give my second favorite team AS Roma a good look at the title.

I am really looking forward to next season if the demotions come about, it will be very interesting.
