The things some people do. . .

Did Man Try to Prompt Suicides for Sexual Kicks??
VIENNA (Reuters) - Austrian police say they have arrested a man suspected of encouraging people over the Internet to kill themselves for his own sexual pleasure.

In a statement, Austrian police said the man "obviously intended to push other people to commit suicide in order to arouse himself sexually," adding that none of the people he contacted had killed themselves.

In his last Internet conversation, the 34-year-old tried to convince a woman to have sex with him and then kill herself, police said. If she then could not bring herself to commit suicide, the man said he would strangle her and slit her throat.

"He gave tips on hanging and kept asking to be at the suicide," police said Tuesday.

The man was arrested at his computer. When asked about his motive, he said he wanted to see how far he could go, police said.

While it takes a very pathetic human to actually encourage people to kill themselves for any kind of pleasure, if the people would have in fact done so, they would have no one else to blame but themselves.

If she then could not bring herself to commit suicide, the man said he would strangle her and slit her throat.

No he wouldn't have because he wasn't there. Unless she of course gave him her address. Then it would still be somewhat her fault.

Wow he must be reeeaalllly bad in bed.

"Look darl I'll sleep with you, but I am sooo bad you'll just wish you were dead, in fact most people DO actually kill themselves and if you feel a bit squirmish then I can give you a hand".

Ask people to kill the themselves over the internet?!Who would do that just because of the reason of an unknown man?Apparently this man is very self-confident about his typing ability.

Well, at least he wasn't planning on eating them... was he? :crazyeye:

:vomit: This is one the sickest things I've ever heard. Sexually aroused by forcing others to kill themselves? What a sick MF.

Weirdness.

"He gave tips on hanging and kept asking to be at the suicide"

How long were these women listening to this moron?

Stupidity and insanity are the two words for him.
And those people he's been meeting on the internet, they should have put him into a blacklist in the first place.

The hard thing about being online is that you can never really get to know the person. You don't know what they are really doing or their motives. However, when someone is telling you to go kill yourself, that should be a red flag to log off. ;)

So true...
That's why you should be extra careful and extra suspicious.

You should because you don't know who you're talking to. What if they sound okay but they are totally psycho? You'll never know really. Hell, CurtSibling could really be a 13 year-old girl with blonde pigtails for all we know. :)

Yes. Even if the person you are talking to IS the person you are talking to in reality, it doesn't really say much - as his intentions can be quite different from those stated.
There's a case over here of a teenager who was convinced to meet a Palestinian girl over the internet, and when he arrived he was kidnapped and murdered. And she was a Palestinian girl - no lie behind her identity, only her intent.

No,I probably would have a long conversation with special creatures like that man. This kind of people is just so rarely seen,so unique that is almost unbelievable.Seriously,I was completely striked when I read the story about that man,I ask my myself who the hell does that man think he is?!Ask people to suicide by typing??!!I'm sorry but the opportunity of this happening is too tiny,I got to grab the chance to talk to this kind of people if they ever show up on my msn.

So true. I even sound different when I write than I do in person. Sometimes I'll write something I normally say and it looks totally different without my inflections and body habits. It's almost like you're talking to someone in 2-D. 93% of communcation is non-verbal actually. :)

Wow, that's an awful story, but it does prove a point: the internet is not a totally safe place and you should proceed with caution.

Yeah, I have a book about body language. It has a very strong importance and effect in communications.
It's also important since most of the times you use it un-consciously, making your character look more obvious and true - not hidden behind pre-arranged verbal content.
That's part of the reason I mostly use IM's to chat with people I already know in real life.

So true.

I've used IMing and chat with people I know in real life and it's strange because they do sound totally different online. I knew one girl who was terribly shy and mumbled a lot. When she e-mailed me, she sounded like this articulate, knowledgable woman. It was bizarre! Most of the things I say I would say in real life, but sometimes I sound like a bigger jerk than I really am online. :p
