I've got a new atitude

I'm at peace with everyone and everyone's polite with me. I discover a new tech and go to the foreign advisor to trade it first to Egypt They give me 2 luxories for a total of 8 for Democracy. I like that. Then I turn to Shaka. He's cautious now. I trade Democracy for Navigation. He likes it. But now he's annoyed. Why would he get worse after a trade? Do I just a have a buggy version or the solar ejections intercepted my computer screwing with me? I though they liked trading.

This has happened to me too. It's like they don't want what you gave them, or something. Makes no sense, if you ask me...

After the trade? (i.e., you haven't exited the window yet). Sometimes, if their attitude goes down quickly, they might be thinking about attacking you. (Though, I've seen the AI go from furious and sneak attacking you, to gracious and wanting an alliance 5 turns later).

It is because they immediately revolt to anarchy once you trade democracy with them. When the AI are in anarchy, you'll (almost) always notice a drop in their attitude towards you due to the government change.

Yeah, you may just take a glance at F3 before/after trading a gov-enabling tech - they could just revolt during your turn.

Also, if you plan to make more trade agreements (separately) than just giving the gov-tech in one turn, it may be worth to put this tech deal at the end of the negotiations queue to 'avoid' their anarchy income loss. E.g. if you first sell them demo for 1000 gold upfront, you might not get your spices sold for gpt; so first trade the spice for their gpt away and then grab the 1000 gold for demo.

I checked after I traded. He did revolt. Of course other weird time he didn't like me as much either but what the hey.
