JFD and Janboruta's Civilisations

Has anyone played with Austria(Joseph II). Anyone have problem with state school merchant and eng slot?

JFD, can I just give you my meager paycheck now while I accept that I live in my parent's basement and play Civ and EU 4 all day? (except they want me to get a better job and move out......) Seriously that looks awesome.

Skaz881, for a regular like you, appreciation is worth the more :D Also, what is a basement? We NZ's don't know these things :p

This might happen if you're not using the latest game patch. Otherwise I'm not sure. If you have your Database.log, that'd be most helpful.

Oh wow that new Crime mod looks interesting. Constabularies and Police Stations will actually be worth building now.

Actually, the Magistrate's Court et al. had been the standard anti-crime building line, but what you said changed my mind toward the espionage line - so thanks! It'll be a while before release - it's a big change that needs internal balancing - but such a comment makes a big difference.

Oh- from whatever reason, Alexander's UU is appearing as a melee unit in the civilopedia. I'm not sure what how it plays out in game though, but it retains the cannon's bonuses.

(About Joseph: When I put the cursor on top of the School Icon in the DoM screen, it showed only 1 scientist specialist slot. I though the other slots were added with a dummy building, but I didn't get to check that out, again.) :p

Natan, you know my secrets too well :p The PS, when built, actually builds two buildings in your city, rewarding a Scientist and an Engineer. This should only work if you have the latest patch. So, the PS will only show the Scientist - but when built, should create an Engineer and Merchant. Jan doesn't have as many problems as you do, you know? :p

The Licorne was accidentally deprived of a Ranged Combat value, making them a melee unit. I'll fix soon. This would make it otherwise a Melee unit.

One general "issue" I've encountered is that a lot of people might be using mods with outdated DLLs, particularly Civ IV Diplomatic Features. The DLL in that mod was never updated after the last Civ V patch which added CityConstructed. So you get a ton of people complaining Xia your mod doesn't work on Steam. I don't know if this is the issue here, but it's possible. Of course, it's also nothing to be fixed on the mod maker's end.

When i play Sweden-Norway ,when i build Academy i get two slots more, but with Austria don't.Have original Civ game complete edition, running on steam. Version 1.0.3.279. It's showing all DLC are downloaded.

I have been encountering the same. One comment on my Terracotta Army buff mod was a bit nasty, I thought.

PSA -- older versions of VMC also can cause this because as whoward said he did not by default make the custom options turn on the functionality. This will also be true of older DLL mods that used VMC as their starting-point for the DLL file. This can be cured for versions prior to V66 of VMC (I think it was V66 whoward said) by adding this SQL code to your mods:
Code:
UPDATE CustomModOptions SET Value=1 WHERE Name='EVENTS_CITY';
With this setting VMC and VMC-child DLLs (at least) should be able to work with your mod(s). Obviously, though, getting users to update to the latest version of VMC will be an even better cure.

But for non-VMC DLL, this issue will likely continue forever. I've started putting notices on my Steam pages re this issue. But then, who ever actually reads a mod description ?

see this thread for more 'contextual' detail of the issue and for the info direct from whoward as opposed to my mangled paraphrasing. Perhaps the linked thread ought to be moved to SDK/LUA subforum as a PSA for other lua modders. Civ4 Diplomatic Features would be one of the ones I was thinking of including into a possible list of mod-breaking outdated dll-mods.

Precisely why I ceased support on my Packs that I currently have. Since I made my 'final update' to the Turks, Great Britain, et al., I've had to update them several times. A pack is simply dreadful to me.

However, I am making smaller, era-bound packs, which would at least make it a bit easier for users.

Why not make use of a code repository like Github? It'll only take the files that have been modified so you don't have to upload every single file you have every time.

Thing is, Github can be confusing for beginners. Unzip, drag and drop/extract is not as much.

I'm sure with good instructions they can work it out. I mean, there IS a "Download as ZIP" on the right hand side.:p

So it's basically More Civs soon? :p

As it turns out, it seems Greece is automatically delayed by a month each time someone mentions Greece being delayed. Not sure how it happens, but it just does. Must be one of those laws of the universe

Haha, I'm sorry. I can understand why you don't think such remarks are funny, but I wouldn't have made that comment if I hadn't been a fan of your work.

I think I should join DJSHenninger and cry in a corner now that I've delayed the Greek split. :vomit:
