I can see why CP is a modder's dream. Thanks for the run down.
I'm tempted to try and make my next Greek State mod using CP. Might allow for some more unique things to be done then my usual XML and basic Lua.
Although the steam community seems to despise it. (or at least the people who are bothered to comment do)

I bet 90% of them think CP = CBP.

Not just a PC. A good PC. I can't use the community patch because it makes turn times prohibitive even on tiny maps, so by extention I won't be able to use any mod JFD makes from now onwards. *yaay*

That's... disheartening to hear. Shouldn't it be more optimized then normal Firaxis code after all?

Theoretically yeah. Although, a big part of the problem may be the stuff it adds.

CP adds more then it optimises.
Although, i don't actually remember it optimising the game at all. I think it just adds and changes things.

On a non CP-related note, I've set up a new google doc spreadsheet for all the TSL values of current and upcoming civs, which will hopefully make updating things easier and keep it all in the one place. JFD's civs start at row 128, and I think I got everything but it'd be good if someone else was able to double check and make sure, especially since I got lost in the OP about three times

No, we don't despise it, it's just it screws with everything on a user end if you don't run some perfect DLL-less, all DLC setup.

I never installed CP before and I plan on only ever using it with JFD mods because I was perfectly fine with Civ5 before it and I will be without it.

I had no idea it was so complicated making them without CP, but gee golly I won't have to worry about having problems running these civs in a modpack anymore :( .

I'm just glad JFD isn't doing this out of some loyalty or spite and is going to make every mod retroactively require CP.

Tbh, if you didn't get the complete edition for £10 in a steam sale, then you've gone wrong.

Afaik, you only need the civ DLCs to use the CP, and it's nearing summer...

Running a DLL-less setup isn't exactly hard - you've just got to remember which mods add a DLL or not; I get by with only the CP, VMC 34, and the now obsolete Artificial Unintelligence. And if you think the CP is demanding, just go spend some time with AU...

I wouldn't get your hopes up about that last point: old civs will be available without the CP, but updates will require it.

No, no it hasn't. Unless you were talking about your own personal Golden Age, in which case, has it? :p

    Excellent civ!

There's no brakes on the jan train now.

My to-do list for everyone's civs extends along with the Golden Age. :p

That select band of everyone has got my schedule covered until the end of the year anyway.

And then when Civ 6 comes out, we'll need to port everything. I shudder at the thought a tiny bit. I need a sponsor. Or a job. :p

Thank you Senshi. I'll be here working on my Mod Showcases and work in progress Civilizations until I'm important. :(

Does the Community Patch increasing turn times actually hold any weight? With future and past Civs utilizing the Patch, this would mean making future Battle Royales might not be able to use civs like Teddy which would guaranteed to be a fan-favourite.

Not from my experience. If you've a sufficiently powerful computer, there will be no difference.
