Jobs IRL

Some of you have such interesting work!

I am VP for fraud analytics at a large bank. Not much help for newer civ games, but maybe I'm like one of those people fighting down corruption in civs 1 and 2?

I'm in my home office and choose my hours, so it does give me plenty of time to play civ and read message boards I guess?

Benfords law ?

Various things for a couple of different fortune 100 companies, culminating in creating service automation sw for one of the top three software companies in the world. One of those "two people sketching it out on a napkin" type of things that turned into a key pillar of the companies AI strategy. Netted a cushy mgmt job where I get to pick and choose what I work on.

Civ is the opposite of work, helps keep me in "left field".

Officially, Marketing Manager for the Brazilian branch of a Japanese tankless gas water heater manufacturer. Add to that the unofficial duties of sales manager and spokesperson for said company, as well as currently being at the helm of the gas water heater manufacturer's association.

I practice corporate law, but I have begun a career transition into teaching history. As my signature states, I have played every incarnation of Civ since I was a little kid and got my hands on Civ1 when it first came out, which was instrumental to my love of history. Sid & co. changed my life (and shows that not all video games are bad for kids).

I work as a masseur in a Spa, so after whole day of interacting and talking to people it's nice to relax and rule an empire in Civ... :)

I do credit card fraud prevention for an online retail company. I'm sure not as technically-oriented as your work. Mostly looking at long lists and finding patterns, etc. Pressing the right buttons like a good little monkey.

By education I was an audio engineer. I was going to do audio post-production for film. It was gonna be great.

My education is in computer engineering and worked in mobile and embedded software for many years. Last couple of years I've been running a UX design company with some friends.

I am a training development and support specialist. Until recently I was primarily working in government, writing training for various agencies that corresponds with their policy goals (everything from thwarting terrorist attacks to building internet infrastructure in rural areas.) I recently switched over to the corporate sector and am writing training for internal support for a large company.

Just finishing PhD candidate in physics for radiation oncology (defending next week). My research is about 50% coding and about 50% mechanical systems design.

Civ games have most certainly got me more into history. Especially the last 3 civ games. I've always liked history, but now go into even more detail. Though the first game to get me into history, or at least WW2 history was Axis and Allies. I loved that game as a kid. civ2 was my start, I was in the Navy at the time.

Personnally, I'm a history student, in my last year (my dissertation defense will be in september). At the same time, I earn some money by giving private history classes to either college students or elder people interested in the subject ; acting as a translator (portuguese in a franch speaking country) ; and as a guide in a local museum.
So not anything that will really help me out in devising strategies in civ 6, but more on wishing some civs and complaining about the depiction of the existing ones :p

I teach ESL which stands for English as a Second Language. I suppose I got into that because I love to travel, which is certainly related to being a history buff and thus a Civ fan. That helps me when I post on the internet, although I'm not sure it makes me a better Civ player.

I work at Firaxis as an AI developer.
Not sure if trolling or serious

Anyways, I'm a part time student (electrical engineering) but already have a BSc in mechanical engineering. On the other part of the time, I'm working at a company that makes electronic components (like fuses and stuff), mainly in process engineering. Optimizing production and such.

I got a BA and MA in Anthropology (my original dream was to become an archeologist). Still deciding on what job I would like to do.....:p it doesn't necessarily have to be directly related to anthropology,
