Damm.

Thats quite a strawman, El... Celebrate 69th birthday or charter a plane to go pull dead bodies out of the water. My God, poor John was all out of options. How about not criticizing Bush for doing what John was doing?
My post was as full of actual merit as yours was.

The only difference was, I wasn't being serious.

I'm not the one saying that politicians should immediately fly to wherever they can grandstand (nor is El) but other people seem to think they should.

Me neither... Did I say he should have hopped a plane and gone down there? Thats your strawman (and El's). But John McCain did. Thats what he said he would have done, even though we have photos of him in AZ smiling away as Bush gives him a cake for his birthday.

I ask again, why does physical location matter? You think only Bush could assess the situation? Professionals giving him information is not good enough?

Why are you telling me this? Tell it to John... He's the one saying Bush should have gotten on a plane.

I wish this forum had reputation points, because that was an awesome post. Good thing I learned from experience not to mix beverages and Internet forums
We should recommend it in the feedback forum. It would be a good way of letting people know who's opinions actually matter, and who's Narz. Buuuuurn!

Why do you say that? The War on Drugs worked out fine.
:hmm: We have tens of thousands of young men (and women) in jail and plenty of people who still abuse drugs?

Not to mention the current War on Terror, it's been wildly successful.
IIRC worldwide terrorism has been up since the war began.

What we really need, is a War on Chicks that won't sleep with me. It's essentially win-win, as it can't eactly get worse.
"What do you mean you're busy Friday night?! I hope you know, this means war!"

delete.....

I think you need to purchase some sort of sarcasm detector. Professor Frink makes them.

The Fed response to it was actually faster than any other hurricane response in the entire decade previous.

Huh? FEMAs record working with Florida had been very good. I dont see how the response could have been faster with the place flooded. But yer missing the point, this aint about Bush, its about McCain indirectly chastising Bush's response while at the time he was accepting a birthday cake from Bush.

So? It was a flood in LA......McCain had nothing to do with that.

Hell, where was Mayor Nagin the night of the flood? He sure as hell wasnt even in NO.

Do you even know?

Folks, Bush was only responsible for so much in Katrina. The Fed response to it was actually faster than any other hurricane response in the entire decade previous.

Plenty of blame to go around from Bush being told the leavies would be topped, to "Horse Judge" Heckava job brownie down to the chocolate boy.

Of course you wouldnt blame the majority of 9/11 on Gulliani now would you ?

EDIT: 9/11 Mayor 9/11 Rudi 9/11 Gulliani 9/11. Did I mention 9/11 ???

The phrase "Never again" is so overly used that it has lost its original meaning and gained a new one. Somebody inform oxford!

Never again - Political phrase to seem sympathetic and caring, its gonna happen again

Oh yeah, McCain's voting record on helping Katrina survivors is not gonna help his image of knight in shining armor.

You mean those Katrina survivors that got cash cards for support, and then went and spent it on strippers, malt liquor, and expensive handbags? Those survivors?

How do you know that that's what they spent the money on? Wow, for someone who lets god drive his daily actions, you're pretty heartless. And I thought I was a jerk.

Its called knowledge. If you wish to learn some, listen to me, instead of doing the same old knee jerk reaction you do.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/06/14/fema.audit/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Lawmakers expressed outrage Wednesday over a federal audit report that debit cards handed out to hurricane victims last year were used to buy such items as a $200 bottle of champagne from Hooters and $300 worth of "Girls Gone Wild" videos.

The cards -- given to people displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita -- also bought diamond jewelry and a vacation in the Dominican Republic, according to the Government Accountability Office audit.

The GAO, the investigative arm of Congress, found at least $1 billion in disaster relief payments by the Federal Emergency Management Agency were improper and potentially fraudulent because the recipients provided incomplete or incorrect information when they registered for assistance. (GAO report)

The GAO uncovered records showing $1,000 from a FEMA debit card went to a Houston divorce lawyer, $600 was spent in a strip club, and $400 bought "adult erotica products," all of which auditors concluded were "not necessary to satisfy legitimate disaster needs." (Watch how the money was used to buy diamonds, vacations and strippers -- 2:42)

And I accept your apology.

EDIT: Oh, and to really put it into context...the actual report: http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2006/images/06/14/gao.06.844t.pdf

HURRICANES KATRINA AND RITA DISASTER RELIEF
Improper and Potentially Fraudulent Individual Assistance Payments Estimated to be Between
