Juddering after diplomacy screen

Has anyone else seen this? I am running a 3GHz Quad-core, 8800 GTX, 4GB ram. Everything runs fine until after a diplomacy screen. When I go back to the map, scrolling and unit animations aren't smooth...they're a bit jittery. If I exit to windows and load up my save game, everything is smooth until the next time another leader pops up to talk to me. Any suggestions?

The demo played like complete cra* for me before I downloaded the latest drivers for my card and at which point afterward the game ran just fine.

That does seem to have helped. Shame on me, should have been the first thing I checked. But I was only 1 version behind!
