Is this an XP feature? This "do you want to debug?" window just popped up suddenly and won't go away if I click "no" or even try to close it in the Task Manager. Do you know how to get rid of this?

Edit: Hmm...apparently, something is crashing every time I load IE.

"An exception 'Runtime Error' has occurred in Script."

I'm fine right now, thanks. :p

Seriously, the thing pops up everytime I make an action in IE. Could there be something extra in the code that was created just now?

I guess I don't need to; a quick Google says that this is a part of Visual Studio.

It appears that IE is having some trouble opening windows. Here's the bit of code that's the problem:

function MM_openBrWindow(theURL,winName,features) { //v2.0
window.open(theURL,winName,features);
}

As the document is read-only I can't even fix it. :mad:

Edit: And yes, I have cleaned out all my cookies and temporary files. AND I have checked the appropriate tabs in the advanced Internet options. The same thing still pops up whenever a new window is opened.

Try reloading IE. I have a link somewhere that provides a registry tweak so that you can upgrade IE6.

I have exited and reloaded the program countless times. Just to be safe, I downloaded the security patch for the Sasser worm. I have rebooted the Dell twice. Still no luck....

I just now got around to doing this. For some reason, Windows Update still sees IE as fully updated...

Never mind. Windows now see IE5, but wants it to stay that way. Apparently IE6 is not XP-compatible.

Yes I have, as well as all other relevant options in Advanced Tools. Nothing works. Now I have attempted to reinstall IE6, but Windows doesn't see it as XP-compatible.

Any more help?

Sorry, because IE is unremoveable, there is no way to uninstall (and then proceed to reinstall it) short of reinstalling XP.

Then why did Turner recommend reinstalling it? I don't think IE is completely removed, just down to IE5.

I just reinstalled XP. More problems: there are now two versions on the same computer, and the page is redrawing each and every time I scroll.

Gah, even worse, both XPs are on the same partition! Any ideas on dealing with this?

Dude, you're getting a Dell!

Have you tried to call Dell tech support? You could always consider the final answer: format and then install XP. :) Fun, fun!

Yes, I tried Dell tech support. Needless to say, they were being swamped by Sasser "victims".

And my new problem is caused by my reinstalling XP! :lol:

eh.. umm.mm yeah... wow...

Umm... You know, you could have solved this whole problem by getting Mozilla? :D

Seriously, now I'd say reformat and reinstall Windows.
