Just wanna say I think this is the best Civ game ever

Good job 2K and Firaxis. Only thing that annoys me are the incompetently written civ-descriptions (especially the controversial ones - no real research was done so there are even debunked myths). Would be better 2 use Civ 4 ones (though Civ4 kind of sucked) imo.

Yeah, while I have often said that Civ4:BTS is possibly the most perfect implementation of a turn-based strategy game, I am really really enjoying Civ 5.

So far my early experience with Civ 5 is far better than my early experience with vanilla Civ 4. The big question is: After a few balance patches and an expansion/DLC, while 5 be as great as BTS?

4 hours in and all i can say that's it's pretty lush. Can't stand all this 2k bashing on the first day. Give it some time, allow the mods to do the game that you want.

I agree, it's the best CiV ever.

As for the civilization descriptions, who really cares? Has nothing to do with gameplay. You can read that stuff on Wikipedia.

Agreed. All the best added features of 3 and 4, with the just-plain-fun gameplay of 2.

I definitely think my sense of "ONE MORE TURN!!!" was more with this version of Civ than any version since Civ II. I can honestly say I think I'll be spending a lot of time playing Civ V.

I am pretty sure they'll be fixing a lot of the issues people have brought up (they did for Civ IV, so why wouldn't they?), so I imagine the game will be even better in the near future. But even right now, I'm enjoying it tremendously.

IMO startcarft sucks and CIV rules ! OMG LOL ! Only think I don't like is the music - I like hevy metal and I'm not happy that egypt don't have much iron maidens. I play CIV V and CIV IV is lame. GG

I'm not going to say wehter its better/worse than CIV4 till i have played a couple of games to the end . I been enjoying it so far though.

Best CIV ever - probably. It's certainly fun, I played for hours last night and I can't remember having as much fun playing a game in years. The game seems to flow, it's not fighting you like CIV IV would so often. 'Oh,you want to do this? FORGET IT. By the time you can it's too late'.
