Gur Khan, the leader of the Mongol people of the world, only wants to protect his people. Maybe his message to the Khitans was misinterpreted. We only want the them to cede lands so that they may be apart of the Khanate and be under our protection, as well as prospering from our society.
We do think a trade agreement between our nations will benefit the both of us, however Gur Khan is General to no one but the God's. We cannot accept these terms.
We are not blackmailing nor will we blackmail the Liao Monarchy. We only ask that they join the Gur Khan, the rightful leader of the Mongol peoples of the world.

Also, next time it would be wise not to insult the Khan by calling his people barbarians. We are no longer nomads.

    Yangdi Code

    - Emperor Yangdi of the Great Sung

The Son of Heaven, Emperor Yangdi, ordered the compilation of all laws and decrees of the Sung Empire in one code, the "Yangdi Code". The Code will not include any new laws or change the legal system, but rather it will attempt to collect and categorize all laws of the Empire so as to make the legal system of the Empire more flexible and effective. Laws that are deemed too long would be shortened, laws that contradict each other will be fixed so as to ease the contradictions and the laws will be categorized into subgroups, so as to make it easier to access the laws and view together relevant to a subject laws.

The one who will lead this effort will be the Imperial Scholar Ling Wei. Ling Wei, 65 years old, is a Teacher in the Imperial Academy of Hanlin in the Capital Jiankang. He is notable for having extensive knowledge of all of the Confucian classic texts as well as for having studied extensively the legal system of the Empire. He will be aided by several notable Scholars from the Hanlin Academy as well as from other Imperial Academies. They are expected to complete their mission in about a year. Once their mission is complete, an "Office of Laws" will be formed, with the job of updating up to date the Code every ten years.

From: The Son of Heaven, Divine Emperor Yangdi of the Great Sung
To: Chief Gur of the Rouran

The Great Sung understand that you are too humble to accept a position in the Sung Court. It has also noted your interest in trade.

So, the Great Emperor Yangdi has agreed to allow trade between the Great Sung and your people.

We hope, however, that in case of a Liao refusal to join you, you will not attempt to force them through an invasion, thus enraging the Heaven and incurring it's wrath.

We thank you for your generosity. And no, the Khan will not attempt to invade Liao should they refuse to join their rightful leader.

    God's Will

King al-Harith IV ibn Hijr was a wise man, a kind man, a knowledgeable man, but above all he was a pious man. He had been a devout Christian all his life but that had never stopped him from exploring the vast array of religious texts and knowledge he had at his disposal. Long had he spent pondering the differences and the similarities between Christianity, Judaism and Zoroastrianism. This was the 500th year since the lord Jesus had been born and al-Harith IV ibn Hijr felt compelled to do something to honour god. He spent the afternoon gazing out upon the lands of Jerusalem contemplating, thinking and praying. But as his gaze wandered he spotted the ruins of the old temple upon the Temple Mount and he knew that this was indeed god’s will.
“Fetch me my chief architect.” Stated al-Harith IV ibn Hijr whilst maintain a strong gaze upon the site. No sooner had the words left his lips did a servant who was standing quietly in the corner rush out of the room in search of the architect. Only moments later, the architect burst in clutching scrolls and diagrams.

“My lord, pardon me for the intrusion, but I have drawn up many plans in regards to new barracks and st……”

With a gentle wave of his hand, the king cut him off, “Those projects can come later, for now you must dedicate your time towards designing a temple worthy of belonging atop the Temple Mount, something as beautiful as the temple that once stood there, a place, where all peoples can come and worship and truly feel the lord’s hand. That is what you are to do. Go now and return to me once you have a design, no expense shall be spared for this is to be a beacon, a shining light to all the peoples around the world. I envision a place where all are equal, a temple where the poor, the sickly, the weak, the destitute pray besides the wealthy and the strong. This is to be a place for people of all faiths, as the lord would have wanted it.”

“Very well my liege, I’ll begin drawing up plans straight away,” the architect replied, as he bowed whilst backing out of the room.

“Yes, the is definitely what should be done,” mouthed the king as he knelt down and returned to his prayers once more.

The Grand Senate in Latini, following the 11st New Senate Assembly, will greatly lower the tributes that will be paid so that you may use that money for your and your peoples prosperity. However, you are still expected to protect the Grand Senate in Rome in case of war.

These are the words of Joffur Snorri, written in the hand of his loyal Huscarl Ivar, who recorded them for the ages: While none my truly know the designs of the All father, carried as they are on raven wing, we wish for nothing but peace and prosperity with the Men of Rom. Long has it been since the King Who Wandered took these lands from your ancestors, and long shall it be that we rule it, and as everyone knows, a rich house is one with rich neighbors, where envy, the curse of the morning star, he who was once greatest but is now the least may not take hold.
These were the words of the Joffur.

    A Yibram Chronicle

    Spoiler :
    The Kingdom of Yibram

    Spoiler :

    Colour: Gold (Core), Tan (Reach)

Government: Elective Monarchy, where the leader is selected from a cadre of religious figureheads in the nation by their peers. Currently ruled by Absame III.

Language: Yibri Somalian (A Somalian Dialect)

Religion: Yibri Judaism (Judaism, albeit with a slightly stronger focus on supposedly magic rituals inspired by Shamanism and Animism)

History: The Yibri, though their origin is unknown, are believed to be descended from Israelites who fled Palestine and migrated through Arabia into Africa. While in OTL, the Yibri peoples settled in Somalia, in this timeline they were driven even further south by war like tribes. Eventually, they settled in Nacala, and the city grew to be a port as the Yibri turned to trade rather than war to keep their rivals away. The largest port city to the south, they often bring exotic African exports to Axumite and Indian markets. Over time, they have settled much of the surrounding area, as well as settling northern Madagascar, though not without some grumbling from the tribal locals. As Islam does not exist just yet, the people are still predominantly Jewish. I can add more details if needed.

Core Lands: The Southern Jewel, Nacala, and the surrounding area between the Messala and Zambezi rivers, as well as the northern portion of Madagascar.

Reach Lands: The remaining top third of Madagascar and more lands south and north of Nacala.

Neighbours: Some Madgascarian natives, angry with Yibri incursions, have banded together under the "Feather King of Madagascar" south of the Yibri settlements (violet). The Great City of Zimbabwe and Somali tribes are also in their respective areas.

Military: The Yibri are merchants, not fighters, and have a very minor military because of it. What armed forces they do have, however, are much more organized and efficient than their more tribal neighbors. The real jewel of the Yibri is their Flatships, wide, double flat-decked boats intended for slow open sea travel while carrying plenty of cargo, rather than the typical fast-moving coastal ships of the time. These ships cannot defend themselves easily, though theu can carry a large number of troops, and the Yibri have constructed a substantial navy because of it.

    Spoiler :
Trade Routes of the Yibram Kingdom

    Spoiler :

Trade, particularly of the maritime variety, is the lifeblood of the Kingdom of Yibram. The city of Nacala is a bustling trade hub, it's streets and harbor always bustling with foreigners and their exotic goods. The main exports from the kingdom are similarly exotic, consisting mainly of ivory, gems, exotic furs/feathers, and various other minor luxuries. All major trade routes of Yibram stem from the Southern Jewel of Nacala.

Brown-The African Road between Yibram and Axum is the trade route least used by the merchants of Yibram, who prefer to travel by sea. It is mostly used by the poorer merchants who cannot afford ships and must travel by foot or horse through treacherous Somali lands, or by the rare pilgrim on his way to Aksum or Israel.

Light Blue-The most traveled of Yibram's trade routes, the naval route between Axum and Yibram was essential to both the kingdom and the city of Nacala's formation. Imports from Axum are typically rare minerals, and occasionally incenses used by the Yibram people in their religious rites.

Purple-The direct naval route between the various Kingdoms in India and the Kingdom of Yibram is only possible because of their Flatboats, who are able to slowly but surely make their way across the open ocean without sticking to the coast, as long as they are properly supplied. These Flatboats are a common sight in the ports of southern India, and trade their exotic goods for gold or spices.

Pink-On occasion, merchants from Yibram, after resupplying and selling some of their goods in India, continue onwards to Indonesia. These trades are often profitable, the only concern being the complete distance from their homeland. Braver still are the merchants who only stop in Indonesia to continue on further, to lands in China such as Great Sung.

    Spoiler :
    Religious Customs of Yibri Judaism

There are many differences between traditional Judaism and the adapted version followed by the peoples of Yibram. The majority of the customs not taken from Judaism itself have been adopted from the various Animist faiths in Africa, particularly of the Somali tribes the Yibri are descended from.

    Respect for the Natural World
One of the more prevalent ways that the two faiths have mixed is the fact that the Yibri show far more respect for the earth, animals and their tools, such as their Flatships. Though never going so far as to say other life has anywhere near the soul of a human, everything in nature is used with respect, and large undertakings using the earth's natural resources often involve blessings and rituals. In more recent years, however, the Yibri's respect for their planet has begun to fade away as the nation has begun to focus heavily on trade, taking resources for personal gain rather than neccessity. Great hunts on the fringe territories, where the less mercantile Yibri still live, and great logging endeavours or mining projects are still showered with the correct mix of Animist respect and Jewish ritual.

    Chants and Dances
Traditional Animist chants or dances are often practiced by members of the Yibri Jewish hierarchy, though it is not enforced. The chants use traditional Hebrew words, or phrases lifted from the Old Testament, though they are often somewhat modified by the Yibri language. These chants and eclectic dances are frequently performed to bless voyages, trades and the rare military venture, with incenses and a reading from scripture also included.

    Bar and Bat Mitzvahs
When a boy reaches age 13, or a girl reaches age 12, their Bar/Bat Mitzvah ritual is held. Once the ritual is complete, they are seen as adults in the eyes of the law, old enough to wed, join the clergy or (in the case of males) join the military. The ritual is, in essence, the same as traditional Judaism, but has a slight addition for the Bar Mitzvah.

Before Yibri boys become Yibri men by reading from the Torah, they have an additional task they must complete: a succesful big game hunt. Often, the selected game is a rhino, elephant or leopard, but the rare sea-oriented youth chooses to hunt a whale at sea. The hunt must be completed by no more than three individuals, and the other two must have completed their Bar Mitzvah's but be near the individual at work's age. Lately, some of the wealthier merchant familes of Nacala have taken to replacing this grand hunt with trade. The youth of these familes must sail from home to a distant land, and return with a certain amount of wealth or goods for their honor.

    Spoiler :
    Great Houses of Yibram
Though any rabbi throughout Yibram is eligible to be elected King, this is rarely the case. Instead, the power, wealth and rank within the nation is held by a handful of particularly noteworthy houses, each with their own typical traits and traditional animal heraldry.

    Ashkir, Animal: A Lion
Nacal Ashkir and his son, Bahdoon Ashkir, are credited as the founders of the Kingdom of Yibram. Nacal led the Yibri to their homeland, and Bahdoon founded the electoral monarchy and the city of Nacala. Those two kings are remembered for their bravery and ingenuity, while the later reign of Nacal II is mostly forgotten. The house went extinct after the death of young Nacal II.
Kings: Nacal Ashkir, Bahdoon Ashkir, Nacal II Ashkir

    Jeyte, Animal: A Hyena
Jeyte was the second house to have a King of Yibram elected, and is currently the greatest house in the nation. They additionally boast the largest count of kings, boasting five to most other families' one or two. The Jeyte are considered the nations greatest warriors and generals, and many are remembered for their skill on the battlefield even if they were not kings. Most of the family is descended from one of Nacal Ashkir's daughters, and claim a stronger "right" to rule because of it. Most Jeyte rulers have been rash and impulsive, but have yet to lead a unsuccessful campaign. To this day, most Yibri commanders come from the Jeyte family, and they are they provide the majority of the smithing for the nation.
Kings: Absame Jeyte, Absame II Jeyte, Absame III Jeyte, Shido Jeyte, Tolum Jeyte

    Olwa, Animal: An Elephant
House Olwa was the third family to ever produce a ruler of Yibram, and he served the nation well. People of Olwa are often shrewd diplomats and stewards, with an excellent eye for detail and a mastery of internal democracy. Many from the family have served as valuable royal advisers, inspecting and bringing forth official documents and legislature. They are also frequent explorers, eager to make new friends on the world stage. The first national trading fleets to reach India, Tarumangara and China were all led by an Olwa captain. Despite these various feats, some consider the Olwa to be cowards who do not respect Yibri tradition. In fact, they are seemingly eager to adopt new customs from foreigners, and no Olwa has ever looked to find a fight, whether it have just cause or not.
Kings: Loko Olwa, Yakob Olwa (Current)

    Yarum, Symbol: A Menorah
The Yarum family is the only major house in Yibram to not have an animal as it's family symbol. Instead, to match the nation's traditional piety, they use a menorah. Both Yarum kings of Yibram have had piety at the forefront of their minds, and both brought it great things. The first Yarum king, Habane, is the individual primarily responsible for the creation of Yibri Judaism as a separate entity. His son Kaafi Yarum, was the first to send Yibri missionaries around the world, introducing the religion to the globe. Cautious and intelligent, the Yarum family has the largest number of rabbis of any other house, yet they do not abide nepotism. Most within their house view justice and fairness to be extremely important, and thusly follow what they think is right for the nation, not their family.
Kings: Habane the Pious, Kaafi Yarum

    Mire, Animal: A Whale
The youngest major family of Yibram, the Mire are predominately merchants. Their own palace looms over the foreign market near Nacala's Great Harbour, and many of the ships within said docks are owned by Mire family members. Though they have hosted only one king, Mursal the Merchant, the family is integral to the economy of the nation and of Nacala, as they bring in much of the international trade. The family is also unique in one surprising fashion: individuals who have served the house particularly well may be offered the chance to adopt their name and enter the family, rather than the name being simply hereditary. Though some would call the Mire greedy due to their prevalence in trade, most of their family are exceptionally artistic, clever and kind.
    Kings: Mursal the Merchant

    Tundan, Animal: A Rhinoceros
Despite the Tundan family being as old as the Jeyte and Ashkir, they have never had a king of Yibram elected. Part of this is due the family's very nature; most of them are isolated traditionalists, and they are the only major family with no true presence in the capital city of Nacala. They stick proudly to the ancient tribal ways and follow most of the ritual aspects of Yibri Judaism much more precisely. Many "civilized" Yibri see them as primitive and wonder why they are considered important at all, forgetting the reasons; the Tundan history and Tundan wealth. Daskar Tundan was the Yibri seer who instructed Nacal to lead the people in a great migration, and served as the first king's adviser and eventual father-in-law, earning the family great respect. The Tundan also control many of the Kingdom's gem mines in the hills, as well as the sale of the elephant ivory their family hunts almost exclusively. The family has begun to show a greater presence at the Rabbi's Council, however, and will likely see one of their own elected before long.

There are few things the Empire truly despises, yet war is first among them. Let there be peace among our peoples, upon three conditions:

    1. Allow a Babylonian governor to enter into your city and advise (OOC: Read: Rule) your people on matters both internal and foreign. The ancient wisdom of the Empire will be at your fingertips.

    2. Give a daughter of your king to marry a son of the Emperor, and make the most offspring of their most fruitful union the heir of your kingdom. This will blend the blood of our great lands, and spell peace for all eternity.

    3. Take up the word of the True Prophet Zoroaster to yourself and thus enter into the light of Ahura Mazda. Indeed, it is possible this Christ of yours is just another word of the God of Light that does battle against the darkness, or a hero imbued with his essence.

Our neighbour to the east is mighty and strong. It would be wise to strengthen our relations between us, both militarily, and economically. I propose that we should sign a defensive pact and a trade agreement.

While you don't directly border the dangers we do, you hopefully are smart enough to realise that if Dacia falls, the same fate would also follow your country. Likewise if the same happens to your country. An alliance would be best, especially if it comes with a trade agreement.

    THE SOLAR PARADIGMATA

The Solar Paradigmatofori (Example - givers) are the de - jure heads of the local Solar churches of every region. Ever since the independence of Latiniki from the false whims of the pagan Emperors and the creation of the Solar Orders, the Solar Paradigmatofori gather in the Solar Paradigmata in order to decide matters of faith that threaten the religion and the followers. The meeting is often accomplished in the most holy city of Latiniki, which serves a centre of faith for the Solar Faithful.

From the founding of the city, 1253, the Solar Paradigmatofori have decided to gather and discuss matters of the faith in the most Holy Temple of Sol in the city of Latiniki, with the charitable sponsorship of the Dictator and the Senators of Latiniki, whose names shall always reach the eternal embrace of Sol and his life - giving essence. With the faith being attacked from all sides and the only faithful states being Latiniki, Cyrenaica, Svearia and Avaria, while also seeing the weakening of power of the Solar Orders in the lands of the Unsaved, the matters that were discussed were central to the Solar religion.

After 3 days of heated debate between the Interventionists and the Isolationists, the most Holy Paradigmatofori finally decided on how to interprete the Holy Scriptures in the modern days. It seems that the Solar Faith will from now on take a new route. According to the 3rd Council of Solar Paradigmata, which is the current one, all rulers of families are to be donate 1 mnes per month to a Solar Order of their choice within their country and 1 mnes to a Solar Order of their choice outside of their country. Meanwhile, the Solar Faithful must take a more active role in helping save the Unsaved by spreading the word of Sol, while they are also directed to do only that which is just in their life, helping those who are on the righteous path to justice, whether they are Unfaithful or not. Last, but not least, the radical Solar Orders that have a syncretic character are to be considered canon to the faith rather than heretical, for Sol encompasses all and wishes for us to be tolerant.

    THE LIFE OF PARADIGMATISA KUNSUSLU

Kunsuslu was a central character in the creation of many Solar communities in Avaria, Galatia and the Albanian Empire.

The only daughter of a merchant family with 4 other children, her name was perhaps prophetic, as it means "as beautiful as the sun". As a small child, she was taken care by her mother Mortukula before she was kidnapped by Tengri raiders. From that point onward she would travel with her father and her older siblings in his trips on the Silk Road as far east as to the distant lands of Persia and as far west as to the city - states of Hellas. That way, by the age of 13 she had learnt to speak fluently in Hellenic, Persian and Galatian, while she also knew to write in Hellenic. While she had received little to no education because of her travels with her father, she had learnt the ways of the Persians and the Greeks, something that would help her greatly later on when trying to convert these people.

A family of zealots, her father had sent her at the age of 15 to be educated by the Solar Faithful of Avaria. There, she was recognised as a child progidy capable of learning languages easily. From the age of 16 up to the age of 25 she would take up formal education and would also specialise in rhetoric and philosophy, an ancient art that was first nurtured in Classical Athens. After she completed her education within the Solar Faithful in 1200 AUC, she decided to take up charity work independently of the Solar Legion that was practicing it, as it is not possible for women to join Solar Orders. Nevertheless, with donations and unofficial help from the Solar Legion of Ioannes Prophetes, she was distinguished and at the age of 30 she decided to take up missionary work with a few of her local Solar theologians to the exotic lands of Persia.

Once the missionaries arrived in Persia, they were both shocked and awed. Shocked because of they saw a realm of decadency and corruption, but awed because of the grand civilization that the Albanian Empire had fostered. Nevertheless, the people themselves, although worshipping many deities from region to region, were not far away from the truth of the Sun. Indeed, their Deity, Ahura Mazda, was the God of Fire, an element closely related to that of Sol Aniketus. But, they faced stiff resistance from the Moabads and the local Zoroastrian aristocracy, seeing how the religion of Sol Aniketus was quite radical for the Persians, as it preached syncretism and religion for the women and the slaves, something that the Albanian Empire could not afford.

However, not all hope was lost. Kunsuslu and the missionaries managed to form convert some small communities in 1230 AUC in the periphery of the Albanian Empire, and they also managed to debunk the theologies of Zoroastrianism and Manichaeism, both of which fought fiercely against the Solar religion, not realising their common elements. In 1234 AUC, the Albanian King of Kings issued a decree against the Solar religion, banning it and officially allowing the hunt for the Solar Faithful to begin. An Empire of decadence and collapse, this was a last resort for the dynastic house of the Albanian Emperors in order to keep themselves in power. The missionaries and their communities were hunted, and Kunsuslu herself was imprisoned. She was later executed in 1235 AUC in order to appease to the Theocrats of Persia.

While there are indeed no saints or revered mortal figures in most parts of the Solar Legion, Kunsuslu, along with others, is the one of the personalities that comes closest to achieving that. Her hard work and her dedication to the religion even when imprisoned inspired the Solar Faithful later on to form the Solar Order of Kunsuslu, an order which has a civil character only and is active in Anatolia and parts of Babylonia. In 1253 AUC, she was degreed as a Paradigmatisa for the Solar Faithful by the 3rd Council of Solar Paradigmata.
