    Spoiler :

UA (BNW): +1 Gold for each City connected to the Capital. +1 Culture per turn from Cities for each foreign Religion present.
UA (G+K): +20% Trade Route income. +2 Culture per turn from Cities for each foreign Religion present.
UU: Tarkhan: Earlier but weaker knight. Heals completely upon pillaging a non-road improvement. Receives defensive bonuses.
UB: Synagogue: Replaces temple. City gains 1 Citizen upon completion. No maintenance.

Get it from the mod browser! Or here.

I have also been brainstorming about a potential medieval scenario situated in an area from the Balkans to the Aral Lake. Other big players would be Arabs, Byzantines and Kievan Rus' (mod by Tomatekh). To the east Oghuz Turks (play them and found the Seljuk or Ottoman dynasty) and Pechenegs (roughly where Atilla is in the Fall of Rome scenario). To the west Bulgars (who were displaced by the Khazars and subsequently became a pain for the Byzantines) and Polans (too early for Poland proper).

Expect the Nri Kingdom in the future as well. Other civs from my (vanilla only) FTM package will not get a remake, as they are either included in G+K or are already on the todo list of other modders.

I like the direction you went. Will give it a try.

On a related modding question, could the code you wrote for culture per religion be easily adopted to other yields like science or faith? I could see a few good uses for it in my personal mods.

Yes, it's easy to adapt. The solution will be cleaner too. The culture I have to classify as "culture from specialists", but for science you can use:
    Code:
    city:ChangeBaseYieldRateFromMisc( YieldTypes.YIELD_SCIENCE, bonus )
I'll throw something in for potential artists. For the Khazar icon I was thinking of this:
    Spoiler :

In the Astrakhan colors (some versions have a darker shade):

If you're ok with that, I'll add Khazaria to my list of Civ art to do during Christmas break :goodjob: I'm also going to try out the civ soon!

Doesn't that work with culture? I thought Culture became a regular yield in G&K. I guess, then, faith would be somewhat difficult.

@janboruta: Fantastic, a Christmas present to look forward to :D

@turingmachine: The syntax might be the same now, but you still cannot use culture as a regular yield. For instance the "tech enhanced yield" for buildings crashes the game if you put culture as the bonus yield. I missed the faith part in your post, but I just had a look and I don't see a dedicated lua modifier function. It could work as a yield, but iirc I've read that faith is another special case, so I wouldn't count on it.

@AbsintheRed: I see, second to last with just one vote ahead of Mali :p (not counting the unspecified choices)

Still pretty good for a not too widely known civ
Got ahead of most civs in the unspecified choices after all ;)

I also always see Khazar show up when discussing new civs. I'd say its relatively popular among history fanatics on these types of forums. Plus, it's always nice to get another civ that prefers Judaism.

Version 2 is up (attached to the first post). Only thing "missing" is the final civ icon, for now it is still an old one originally made for the Mughal empire.

Main reason for this update is janboruta's ever great art:
    Spoiler :

For the tarkhan unit I used danrell's "Turkish knight" graphics, which looked tough enough to match the fact it receives defensive bonuses. The sword in the unit flag is taken from Astrakhan's flag, as is the turquoise in the general color scheme (+ Kazakhstan of course).

I played several test games and found the original synagogue unimpressive, plus the bonuses felt out of place. So now its (extra) stats are: +1 :c5citizen: upon completion and no maintenance cost. So you can save this building for a late game punch if you don't need all that faith (e.g. when relying on foreign religion spread for optimal UA effect).

When the icon arrives this will hit the mod browser as well. I'll probably lower the trade route bonus to 20% in the final version.

This really is a fantastic civ and I'm glad everything came together with the art. I've already voted it up on the workshop and it'll be a staple in my games from now on (and now there's finally a high quality civ available to choose Judaism!)

What's the Supreme Court (Palace replacement) used for? Is it just for flavor or is it tied to some LUA?

It provides the trade route bonus. If replacing the palace anyway I thought I'd give it some extra flavor.

    And thanks :)

Nice civ Moriboe... Also, I've been wondering, may I use the code of the Culture per foreign religion on another Civ? It's exactly something I've been considering...

    Yes. Thinking about changes:
    • With the Arabia UA change, I'll use the +1 gold per city connection here, rather than +20%.
    • Nerf the bonus culture to +1 for each foreign religion. I thought about dropping the "foreign" to bring it in line with the Candi, but that would be less historically fitting. Besides, I think you can invite foreign religions more easily now through trade routes.
    • The Shoshone took the civ's colors, so invert them and hope it looks decent.

    ETA: probably next week.

Please don't do that, it'll be disastrous. It will end up being bright cyan with barely legible green letters. The Shoshone primary colour is dark grey, and the Khazar khaki is a lot brighter - those schemes are distinct enough.

If you want to change it, I'd suggest only making the secondary blue to be a tiny bit less radiant, but I think it's good enough as it is.
