I just got this game recently, and I've been playing it a majority of the time. I'd have to say it lives up to it's hype.
The gameplay it awesome, the AI tends to hide behind objects (or if there is none, they crouch), which makes it hard to hit anything inside of the game, but does hade a certain realism effect to the game. The AI also uses a surprisingly amount of tatics, including rushing you (happens all the time when your reloading), using grenades when your hiding behind an object, spreading out when you have a rocket launcher (they also do this quite often when you have any gun, even a sniper rifle. They do it more often though when your using a rocket launcher or any other type of area effect weapon), supression fire, and flanking (two guys will actually keep shooting at you while a third tries to move around to the side or behind you).
The reloading sequences are awesome, although there a bit to long (it takes 11 seconds to reload the shotgun). Also, every time you fire a weapon "kicks" up some, this is extremely noticeable when your using an automatic weapon as it kicks up and your hitting above your target.
The graphics are pretty good, I'm alittle disappointed in the way the ISA looks, but he helghast are awesome looking and the levels are pretty good also. The dust and smoke effects are EXTREMELY well made, and will amaze you. The shadows inside of the game, are pretty good, they atleast accurate unlike many games.
The Campaign mode has a pretty good story behind it, although it's been pretty tough so far (on easy difficultly). Pretty much, you get 4 differant characters to choose from each level, each have there flaws and merits. The ones you don't pick will make up your squad untill the next level when you pick a new person (or the same person).
Templar: He seems to be pretty good all around. He doesn't take damage that fast, and he can use all weapons pretty good.
Lugar: She can't take any damage at all, but can run really fast, and is awesome with the sniper rifle and dagger (did I say that the "sneak attacks" are awesome in this game?)
Rico: He takes damage really well, and is pretty much the damage dealer. If you just like to run in and shoot things to pieces, I'd recommend playing as him.
Havkir: I'm not quite sure what his purpose is. He doesn't take damage that good at all, and is pretty slow moving. He does seem to be more accurate when shooting automatic weapons however.
The Battlefied mode is pretty good also, I'm kind of disappointed in the lack of courses, but all of the courses are really well made and are a pretty good size. the Battlefield mode also contains differant types of ways you can play.
Deathmatch: Simple Free For All, most kills win.
Team Deathmatch: Puts the ISA team vs the Helghast team. Whichever team has the most kills wins.
Domination: Team based, where each team has to try and control differant "switches." Whichever team has the most points (you get points by holding switches) at the end of the game wins. Note: The switches stay at one place and can not be moved.
Supply Drop: Alot like Dominations, just with one differance: The supplies must be picked up and moved back to your teams base inorder to get points for it. This makes it harder to take supplies from your enemies (it's in there base).
Assualt: Team based game where one time has to defend a "key objective" from the other team. You get a certain amount of points for each kill made, but if the one team achieves there objective (either destroyed or defending an object), they receive 5 additional points.
Defend and Destroy: Alot like Assualt, just that both teams have to defend a "key objective" from the other team, while trying to kill the others "key objective."
