Okay, after discovering that Knights of Honor exists (by reading the Empire Building Games thread) and after hearing about Crusader Kings, I'm curious as to which one is considered the better game. I like Paradox games and have Victoria, HOI, and EU3. I think Victoria is the better of those. I've tried the demo for KoH and it seems okay. There's no demo for CK but it looks like it's better supported. Which one should I consider buying? Or should I just say, 'oh heck, I'll just get EU3: Rome. :crazyeye:

While I haven't played Knights of Honour I can safely say, after a quick glance at Wikipedia, that the games have completely different goals. Knights of Honour seems to want you to conquer as much land as possible, while in CK the point is to build a well respected and powerful dynasty (thus you lead a family, and not a nation).

Having played Crusader Kings it's well worth buying and trying out, though I'd suggest geting the Deus Vult expansion to go along with it. :yup:

Crusader Kings is all about the Dynasty, rather than the nation you start out with! Which is completely different fromevery other tbs game involving factions/nations and I had to kind of wrap my head around this new idea/goal instead of the one I was used to.

Knights of Honour is similar to the Total War games, but real time. The rts battles however SUCK so I just let them autofight, and it usually works. The diplomacy in KoH is actualy worth using too.

I haven't played Knights of Honor, but I have Crusader Kings. You do get to conquer provinces but depending on the ruler you may have difficulty ruling them, so you may have to give it to someone. It's more focused on your family and inheritance, with each new family head having different traits that may be better or not for ruling.

Having played Crusader Kings it's well worth buying and trying out, though I'd suggest geting the Deus Vult expansion to go along with it. :yup:
The game has been re-released on disc with the expansion included (and an on disc manual).

AWESOME!!! Ths mod sounds great!
Yes Knights of Honor is a great game! And it works better on lower end systems then Crusader Kings.
Crusader Kings is pretty slow moving. The point of the game is to sit and click through choices in events and raise kids.
Pretty interesting but I wish Crusader Kings ran faster.
Knights of Honor is good :)

Thanx. Yea, I've play crusader a little. I think CKings is more diplomatic & kinda retro based on a Civ2 generation type platform, whereas KoH is more of a builder game, in a CIV3 type platform. But both games need a remake in a CIV4 like platform. I'ted be nice. Probably won't every happen though. I heard Europa Universalis III is A step up from it. But I don't really know.

i can't play games that are newer then 2005. My Laptop is not powerful enough. Less then 512 RAM :)

I tried to play Crusader Kings but you can't DOW anyone without certain prestige and getting that prestige would take DECADES... srsly turned me off the game but I'm going to retry it.

Yea, Crusader Kings is a bit different, more strategic, built on an older platform. KoH is more a cross between CIV3 and Total War. KCKultimateKoH_v1b is start is much quicker compared to Regular KoH.

lol, yeah regular KoH is very fun and strategic. I always play with KCK's mod.
I love being Egyptian. Converting the world to Islam.

Hmmm. Interesting. I've heard of Crusader Kings before, but not Knights of Honor. Is KoH like EU/HoI....

I haven't played Europa Universalis, but I'd say there are similarities. For me its a cross between CIV3 & Total War, with some neat espionage thrown in.
