Brief History:
While influenced by China and the USSR during 1950, North Korea launched a invasion against South Korea to unite them once and for all, the real-life thing that happened is that it was a see-saw war, going one country's way for some time, then another way for another, then eventually causing in a cease fire and a treaty that made North Korean lose approx 1,000 square miles of land...
Will you, {Insert Name here} rewrite history and change the outcome of the war?
Main Modifications:
*1 Food Per Civilian
*Roads cause a 1/4 out of the Unit's Movement points
*Terrain has been bulked up since North Korean and South Korean Land arent developed alot
*If crashes happen due to overload from the Bulked up Terrain, please tell me
*The Map I got this from was completely written in another language, so expect some things not written in English
*Almost all units cause population to drop
*ALL Units are FREE, No Matter what government! ;D
North Korea:
*For Commies, have 2nd highest chance of winning
*Least Developed land in game
*All Cities connected by Rail
*Locked Alliance with Russia and China
China:
*Medium Chance of winning
*Small Terrority
*2nd most developed land
*Can build Nukes
USSR:
*Smallest Land in game
*Most developed land
*Starts out with a ton of MiG fighters
*Has a few cruise missiles past NK-SK Border
*Hard Chance of winning
*Can build Nukes
*Can build ICBMs
*Has Airfields spread out through North Korea
South Korea:
*Highest Chance of winning
*Has a ton of spare troops (Lets say they are UN troops) on a Island, needs time to be transported
*3rd most developed land
*Most cities connected by road
*Can build "Abram Tank", strongest tank in the game
*In locked Alliance with itself
*Can build US Marines
THE NUMBER OF TURNS ARE 146, ONE WEEK EACH TURN, IF I ESTIMATED THE MOVE OF TURNS WRONG, PLEASE TELL ME AND SUGGEST THE # OF TURNS

NOTE:
If they are any problems/bugs or anything you think needs to be fixed in the map, please PM me and I will try fixing up the map
Another Note:
This Map is MADE to load fast since there is added unit graphics or other mumbo jumbo, just download and play!

The Map...(as taken from Map editor)

Korean Border (From Beginning) (And dont worry, ALL Nations start worth 10K) (And the USSR missiles are supposed to be stolen before they are used by the USSR)

If the South Korean Army looks kinda small, dont worry, they have a big load of troops/heavy tanks/airplanes in Chenju Island (With transports/Carriers too! (This is to stimulate the UN forces))
Pusan Perimeter: (You can just put more troops there if you feel as if you will need the perimeter, troops are CHEAP in this game!)

VERSION 1.1 IS OUT!!!
Some changes were made to version 1.0, Changes below are listed
*Fixed SK Leader Name
*Fixed a bug that would have crashed Civilization III
*Gave NK a few more tanks
*Made City's population fall after building a certain unit (Almost ALL units causes a population to drop from 1 (most ground/sea/air units) to 7 (ICBM)
*Change NK's Leader Title (He was OFFICIALLY known as "President Kim Il Sung")

If you need help downloading @ Megaupload.com, look at the picture below

A simple Captcha Code u have to type in then press "Download"
And one final thing...
GL WITH THE MAP! :D

The image of the map you posted looks kind of funky, out of proportion.
Most of us here are used to a fairly high level of detail, a certain sophistication. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm not seeing anything in the posts you have here that grabs me, that makes me want to download this thing to take a look at it. Maybe post some screenshots here in the thread.

Plans for v1.2:
*Upgrade Marine Stats
*Upgrade MiG/F-15 Bombard Stats
*Change "F-15" to "F-15 Raptor"
*Change "Heavy Tank" to "Abram Tank"
*Lower Sariwon's Population from "200" to "20" (Sorry I had a typo while creating map)
*Change the download from a ton of maps to just one Map
I will post up v1.2 whenever it comes out!

F-15s, Raptors, Abrams, ICBMs and ChiComm nuclear weapons in 1950. Oh my dear Deneir. Just reading it makes one want to bathe.

Frankly, this would need a lot of further development, work, polish and some vague sense of adhering to history to be anything more than relatively unsophisticated, quickly slapped together random map game on a Korean map arbitrarily given a 1950 starting date.

The units are out there.
The orbats are out there.
Terrain and art are out there.
Game concepts are out there.
Innovations are out there.
Advice on the use of autoproducers is out there.
They can be utilized.

PS: After having a brief look I must say Simon is right. This one needs to be beefed up a lot, otherwise it's just a random unit fragfest on a Korea map.

I've waited 5 minutes to download 134kb? WTH? Use the Upload button!

Here, because I am a nice person:

Well sorry for that, thanks for uploading the map on civfanatics, but I'll soon fix the map...

Hmm, I'll modify this map some more, but its only v1.1...

VERSION 1.2 IS OUT!
*Changed unit's names
*Changed unit's stats
*NO ICBMS
*South Korea might actually be teh easiest to play as now
*US/Soviet Marines (US Has more Attack # but a really low Defense number, Soviet has about the same attack # but 5 less, but Defense number is +5 more than a US Marine's)
*Moved it all to ONE map
*Fixed Sariwon's City Population Bug/Typo
(Please wait, there is a bug with version v1.2, I am currently fixing it)

The Soviets never even contemplated using ground forces in Korea.
The stats comparing Soviet Naval Infantry to the USMC forces of the time don't seem to be anything but random.
Cruise missiles have no place.
I'd lean towards making the scenario non-nuclear, albeit at this time.
There has never been any type of unit named Supreme War Cruiser.

Start by reading up on the units used.
Then get the orbats in place, even using placeholder units and the basic graphics you have now.
Name units as much as possible.
Consider improvements, wonders, small wonders and resources.

Soviet did used MiG support during the war, and wat stats would u prefer? The Cruise Missiles were meant to help out the player, whether for SK (To take them) or NK (To use them) Supreme War Cruiser, I meant a Battleship but come on man have some fun, and I said if you have your own version just post the map and I'll put it on the the very first post with all the downloads
and the purpose is technically pointless war, but like I said, if you have your own suggestions then sure Just post it here
and yea, I'll probably get hte nukes out next version

Oh and PS: V1.2.1 is out it fixed a bug that changed all the T-34s to F86-Sabres and the other way around

The utilization of 'volunteer' Mig-15s is a world away from ground forces. A historical scenario should have at the least a vague relationship with historical fact.

The USMC divisions active in the war were significantly augmented and had no problems on the defence - Chosin comes to mind. Rather than randomly pull stats out of thin air, consider strength, firepower, equipment, training, TOEs and a number of other factors.

There were no cruise missiles in use at that stage. They serve no purpose. They are historically aberational and most outlandish. Indeed, the Soviet missiles had not entered anything beyond basic testing, and the US was still fiddling about with Loons; none of which belong on the ground in Korea.

There has never been any such ship as a Supreme War Cruiser. It is not a matter of having fun; more of getting the very basics of the game right. The 4Iowas saw rotational service off Korea with the USN task forces, and there was quite significant forces from the RN and Commonwealth.

If you want this to be taken at all seriously, then it is necessary to put some effort into getting the basics rights.

A lot more can be done in a Korean scenario than simply 'technically pointless war'.

I totally agree with Simon.

AlphaKillerII, go check out some books about the Korean war from the library. While you're at it, find some Jane's from that timeframe or anything that would cover weapons of that era.

Civ3 needs well thought out scenarios, not something thrown together on a whim. Look at the scenario threads that have a high post count such as Rocoteh's WWII scenario, or El Justo's TCW or AoI. Those guys have well thought out and balanced scenarios, and have did their homework.

Don't be discouraged, but don't be in a hurry either.

Well, it may be because there is a perfectly good scenario incorporating all necessary elements in process already, that, dare one say it, does not include a Supreme War Cruiser.
Or it could be involvement in at least three other projects on a scale that seems to be above and beyond the notice of some.
Or because involvement in projects for other games, and *gasp*, dare I say it, real life work with kiddies also compete for priority.
Or it may be that writing, rather than creation of borderline ancient scenarios take priority.
Or, there may be that eldritch precept born of the early days of the forum, whereby new chums without any credit nor support tend to be among the smallest of influences.

Boy, I don't know you. I never have crossed paths with you, in this forum or elsewhere. Opinions are like servants; everyone has them, but it doesn't mean that yours are fit to be heard or seen in public. Unless you have an improvement or suggestion for this chap, then fall back in the abyss until such time you have something positive, perchance in the most vague of fashions, to offer forth.

This bloke is making a scenario and asking for ways to improve it. The least one can do is assist according to relevant areas. If this may pertube the gallery of the peanut tree, then alea jacta est and all that.
To put it in what is unfortunately the most plain terms that are available, put up or be silent. If you have any suggestions to the boy as to improve his effort, then have at thee.

Hear, hear.
Well done Simon!
