I got these models the other day and I need suggestions on how the end products should looks, size-wise and civ coloration. The CV is is the USS Langley, a converted collier from the 1920's. The rest of the ships are:
Bismark
Z-type destroyers
landing barge
S-Boat
AAA Uboat
standard Uboat.

Beauty shot of the Bismark.

I would go for more civ3 (cartoonish) proportions - that would be wider destroyers, and shorter uboats. Also both of them need more contrast (darker "blacks")

She's a beaut!

They do all look good, but seem a little too realistic compared to the original Civ ships. I'm no expert on ships, but it looks to me like the Civ ships have substantially exagerrated guns, and are bulkier at the expense of length.

The subs in particular would fit in better if they were shorter and fatter, in my opinion.

Good ideas for the Uboats but I dont want to change the proportions of the Bismark. I want it to be able to float next to Akula's ships and look like a cousin to them.

It seems that you could keep the Bismark as it is. The guns are more visible than Akula's, but not exagerated as in CivIII.
You should reduce a bit the size of the submarine, they are to big compared to the battleship.

just stick it next to existing civ3 units for size comparison....same type of ships should be bout the same size :)

as for the bismark...i dont think the swastikas' background should be always red..imho i think thats exactly where the civ color should go.....

I got a new toy I am starting to play with. I got the model from a good friend.

In that side by side pic, I would have to go with the one on the right...all the civ color on the left one just makes it look too cluttered I think.

Im no longer using the right one. The left one is more detailed, more accurate.

Bismark

yeah? I'm drooling all over...
Now, a stupid question:
I can't remamber if the bismark and others were from WWI or WW2
