Hello everyone!
All games are boring, dota requires my notebook to be cleaned off cereal to get my fan be able to cool down temperature and to increase performance...
So only tbs, and Civ r forever.

I'm not so pro in Civ, but i wasted a lot of my life to it, so i'm trying to make my first finished epic-huge-conts game. And i'm really close to make it now, but...

Accidentaly i got no aluminium. I'm playing for my beloved Willem, i got 1st place on land area, i'm at war with Peter and Monty but who cares they on another continent and got Cyris and Hatshesput from def my pacts.

But no aluminium! And no coal! Incredible... It is really strange map, i even have only furs as luxury, and got one gold in ~1300AD (although 6 religions help).

What to do? Will poissible Al Co help, if it requires coal? I'm noob warmonger, i prefer to take cities by culture... And only one (!!1) source of aluminium on my continent, at far far south on Bismark's land.

I see 3 nodes in Cyrus, but he close to me and friendly, and tbh i only 6th by army power.

I see one node on other continent (there other nodes there as well) in Tokugawa's country, he has only 4 cities left. But i have 1 transport and 2 destroyers only atm... :)

Please, help me with question - how to keep good going up to space victory without aluminium? do i need to war for it, or focuse on army power and attack, or just forget it because it is not so essential for victory?

any help are welcome.

Aluminium Co. won't work without Coal (you won't even be able to establish the company).

There's often some AI out there that will trade you either Coal or Aluminium for a hefty sum, but nothing that you can't live without (e.g. 50:gold:/turn + a couple of other resources). As Siran suggests, Persia sounds as though they should.

There's always Ironworks, Laboratories, and the Space Elevator to help offset your lack of Aluminium.

If the race is tight, you might consider sending up an incomplete Spaceship (have full Casings, but maybe just the one Engine) if the time take to build the parts exceed the time they will save in space travel.

Surprisingly, often it's technological progress rather than production output that causes the bottleneck in spaceship production, so provided you can build Casings early-ish enough, and don't leave Fusion (SS Engines) to the end, you might by-pass much of your difficulties.

Watch closely for another tribe trying to win by Culture before your Spaceship win.

Perform counter-espionage regularly on neighbouring nations, and undertake the other anti-espionage measures (station a Spy in cities producing SS parts, have a Security Bureau in these cities too).

Hope these pointers are of some help. :)

Civilization IV overheats laptops much more than Warcraft 3.

Aluminum only gives you 100% production. So if you have +100% production (forge+factory+power), aluminum increases you production from +100% to +200%.

Second production usually matters less than research for space race. If you have 3-5 cities that produce many hammers (use workshops/mines/watermills), it's ok.

If Toku's that weak, you might be able to cap him really easily with troops you have on hand (take 2 of his cities on the first turn of war, odds are that on turn two he'll capitulate). Then you could demand aluminum from him. I'd have to see the map to say whether that's a good or terrible idea.

Thanks for answers, guys!
I'm playing at monarch (i think so) and used to stay iron-manned in every game, so no reloads, thats why i'm still fighting :)

Civ overheats more, surely, but 5fps in civ battle doesn't makes me upset, but 8fps in garena dota match makes my virtual ass pwned by not only competitors but also teammates.

So, i may not cry about lack of Aluminium? It is really good :) I will post screenshots tonight ot prove that i didn't imagined my situation :)

I'm first in ratings atm, i have 4 in top5 cities, got over 2/3 wonders, and just suck with army, but it is temporary.

Seems my navy will be increased soon, i think i need to make some colonies in japan :)

Oh, and, well, i still scare of CFC mods, so playing 3.19 bts - and it is spamming on spies, really good :) i loosing rpoduction - from settlers to wonder, losing factories, - so yes, i gave counterspionage to all neigbours (even friendly ones, who knows).

alum is great and useful. But yoiu don't HAVE to have it. In Civ III, if you didn't have alumninum, you were totally hosed for the SS - had to go get it.

I seem to recall playing a small-map Civ3 game once in which there was no aluminum, anywhere in the world. That was irritating.

Seems it is bad idea to post on CFC from work - some things are missed :)
Toku keeping 5 cities. And he lost aluminium to Mansa Musa already.

No, i've found only 2 religions, surely islam and taoism, but capital with present 6 religions, yes.

I see a coastal aluminium tile on unclaimed land a bit south of the germans. :) You got it easy. :p

Oh siht! Oh yeah... :)
Thank you very much!

May be another question then?:)
Which chances to be attacked by others when (if) invading into Pacal? He's not friendly like Cyrus, he's small, and i started to spam my 11exp tanks in heroic epic city...

bah! :( Bismark built a city on south coast, so no Aluminium from it. Also all weak neighbours are vassals of him now...
I've a strange thing with Cyrus, - 6 times (!!!) random event of aircrush, it gave to me +6 relations... Seems bug in patch 3.19...

Good news Internet is mine...

Now i'm on crossroad: Attack Peter with Cyrus (yes Pete has Al and yes Cyrus just declared war to him)
Or
Attack and conquesr Toku, and after that fight with Mansa Musa for Al...

Both ways has different aprroaches

If you're going for space victory, you have the following options:
a) attack Cyrus and vassalize him. (my opinion: not worth the invested :hammers:)
b) trade Industrialism to Cyrus for Flight, he'll see Aluminium. Trade him hit musicals + something (deer, silver?) for Aluminium.
c) if you really want to fight, dogpile Pacal and get those bananas online and you can trade them for coal at least (pacal has, what, 6 bananas?) :D

Then you'll also have a semi-monopoly on:
- bananas
- deer

Also:
- too few workers
- what's the deal with all the not-lumbermilled forests? :O
- your farm chain in the south is not irrigated due to a poorly positioned workshop
- too few cottages in general :D
- in my last game as non-financial pericles, with similar amount of cities on a normal map my GNP almost matches yours and my production is double of yours, while having 10 times your army strength. Micromanagement is king :D
