Lands of the Galaxy: Circuitria (A CircuiNES)

Why give defenders the advantage. We have to wait for troops to be able to MOVE, yet they can magically, instantly defend if need be?

And Abaddon: I warned you... :p

The deal was always that the contract was negotiable. Also nowhere in your rules state you have to evict one party of archaeologists to search for other offers. Thats nonsensical. Business simply doesn't work like that.

Now did I roll terrible dice, or did you simply decide to punish me for finding a loophole in your rules?

Why not? Work for your gains, advances, and other miscellaneous benefits! :)

Whu? That doesn't make sense. Either EVERYTHING takes time, or it doesn't. This flips the game heavily in the balance of the defender because they can simply divert all their funds to milita, flood their base with troops, and NEVER be defeated.

*poof* 15 Milita appear in Reds Base, defeating Blues attack!

The deal DID say that the contract was negotiable, but if you are offering the same deal, for someone else to accept...the only way for that to work is for the contract to become null and void, and to evict the current occupants.

Because of the reputation established with that, your contracts are considered higher risk, which means that only organizations financially willing to take on that risk are going to consider your offer. So yes, you got bad dice.

My reputation is the same as it was when it started.. my repuation is hardly dirt!

An the contract didn't need to be nullified unless I got someone new to sign it!

The contract would have to be nullified. For example, when you rent an apartment, sign the deal and all, doesn't that apartment go off the market? Or does the owner still advertise the apartment you're living in as "for sale"? Apartment managers advertise your apartment as "for sale" when you're gone. What you were attempting to do was bad business, and your reputation suffered as a result, which means that firms are less likely to take on the risk.

but my rep had grown last turn.. so its now simply back to normal.. I dont have a bad rep!

An people who rent property advertise it all the time with people still living in.. my student flat (12 month contract) has a for rent sign put up by the owner right now!

...
I'm guessing you are set on the unit building time rule since you have not commented again?

I'm talking about something other than Imperial Favor. This is your reputation amongst potential buyers exclusively. And I'm assuming your manager is advertising your flat for after you leave. If you had said that the contract is going to last for five turns and then you'll want another buyer, then that would be different. But your orders seemed to indicate that you wanted a new buyer right now.

I'm going to try to discuss with other mods about the unit defense thing. When I started this NES, I planned for units recently bought to be able to defend in the turn they were bought. But I'll try to get other opinions. I can see both sides to the issue.

My plan to spam trade! NoooOOooOOO!

As for units just bought. Well I assumed they could defend as my experience of turn-based computer board games are that units come into being without moves or actions but with upkeep, but I'm ok either way.

As a real life example, perhaps the units that suddenly pop up in the HQ for defense, have actually been units that have been assembling all turn, and are rushed into the defense, but not fully organized, prepared, or at total strength.

Circuit, you can see Daft's NEB1 or ZPNESV for NESes that are similar and both dealt with the issue of unit movement.:)

What use is a half built hovercraft?

Ok, thats a fair point. I'd accept "insta-troops" ...who had half their normal value?

I talked with another mod, and he agrees that units just spawned should be able to defend (where they spawned, that is). You can't give them orders, though. I may implement a penalty into the combat system, though. That seems to be the consensus.

You're talking with another one here, and I think Matt's modded a NES too :p

Most of us NESer's try to mod one time or another ;)

I know you're a mod, but you also have something to gain/loose here. ;)

Anyway, it's clear that the old trade rules encourage unwanted behavior and are easily gamed. So rather than have a flat rate, it will be gradated. For domestic routes, each hex between the settlements (including the hexes the settlements occupy) earn 2.5 credits for every settlement involved. Inter-factional routes earn 5 credits/hex. This is per hex between the settlements, not how many hexes it takes to get there (so you can't circle all the way around a settlement just to get more hexes). Settlements have only have two trade routes each. Large settlements can have three. You can designate which trade routes you choose to activate.

I'd be marginally displeased if it turned out my saved money might doom me, but a penalty seems fine to me. Anyway, this game is fun so don't worry too much about your decisions.

Orders Sent.
Please don't forget to send me my money Bonne ^^, 75 for the ruins and 75 for the militia if u want them. (I promise to hold up my end oc. You can drop them both if you want actually, as I want to flexible with my neighbors. But please don't drop just one of them as my militia has been moving in the right direction for taking it over for you. PS. Oh and don't hesitate if there's anything else you want to discuss and/or negotiate. I might be able to help you with loans, you have nice economic oppertunities there in the grass belt.)
