im looking to buy a laptop on a fairly strict budget and ive got down to a choice of 2 very similar models the only differences between them are

1. Toshiba A210-1B1
AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 1.9GHz, 1600 MHz FSB, 1 MB Cache
ATI RADEON X1200

2.Hewlett Packard Pavilion G6060EA
Athlon 64 X2 TK57 1.9ghz ,1600 MHz fsb, 512 KB cache
NVIDIA GeForce 7000M

i can see the toshiba has a slightly better processor but im unsure which laptop has the superior graphics

theyre both the same price £400

Id go with the nVidia one as it shouldnt use System memory like the X1200 probably will. Im not sure which chip the 7000M is though. If its a specific chip, then its likely right blow 7300M which is somewhat faster than the X1200. If thats just the series in which the chip is, its also likely nothing above a 7500M, which are much faster than the X1200.

I do see a dilemma though. The Toshiba has a faster CPU with more L2 cache which will help it be a bit faster than the HP.

In the end, if you can get 2 gigs of RAM, you might as well go with the Toshiba as it will be a tad faster in cpu and at the level of gfx you're getting, a few fps wont matter all that much.

The Turion is designed for laptops, and so uses about 50% less power than the Athlon. It'll extend your battery life, if that's more important than more processing power. Also, what will you be doing with this laptop? If you won't be gaming, you can go a lot cheaper.

The performance difference is very minimal and they both perform poorly in 3D games. Might as well get the one that looks prettier, weighs less, comes with nice software...
