We have a Compaq Armada laptop that is connected to our router, and recently the connection between the network card and the router stopped working. So, I can't access either the network or internet from it. In the IP-configuration it says that the card is disconnected, and in the device manager it says the card is working. I've reformatted the computer in vain, and reinstalled the drives to the card and all the protocols (TCP/IP and NetBEUI). Once I got the card to assign an IP-address, but it was a local one and not from the DHCP on the router, but after a restart it said it was disconnected again.

With the network card, the computer is virtually useless, and I just had it in for repair (keyboard stopped working), and got it back just before christmas. I don't want to sent it off again, but guess I don't have much choice if no one can help me?

BTW, Compaq/HP is the worst international company I've ever dealt with, and their products suck.

did you try using another network-cable? maybe it's just the cable that's broken (happened to me once).
